This is Joshua Young and you are listening to Meditations with the Ancestors.
Take the next few moments to gather any items you might need in order to make yourself comfortable and relaxed.
Once you find yourself in a comfortable position,
Do your best to make any last shifts and movements so that you are your most comfortable during the practice.
Start by connecting to the breath,
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the nose.
Allow the breath to expand the body and on the exhale,
Allow the tension in the body to just relax.
Inhaling through the nose and on the exhale,
Just allowing the body to fall a little bit closer to the surface on which it lies.
Simply take this opportunity to trust the breath,
Allowing the body to relax deeper and deeper with every exhale.
Allow the breath to continue at a natural pace,
Bringing the attention to the heart.
Allow yourself to be a little bit curious about what you feel or what you notice.
Notice the pattern of the heartbeat,
Notice the speed,
You might even notice how far the vibration moves through the body.
And just pay attention to whatever comes up for you.
As you focus on the heart,
Allow the next few breaths to really relax you,
Opening the heart with every breath.
Take this time to notice what the body might feel like.
Noticing if there are any spaces in the body in which you feel this connection,
A need for healing or a need for empowerment.
Whatever this space might be,
Just notice and be here.
Push through any discomfort with the affirmation of,
I surrender.
This is something you can gently say to yourself if in your mind you find resistance.
Just gently say to yourself,
I surrender and allow the body to relax.
Take this time to continue moving throughout the body and finding spaces in which need your attention.
Bringing the attention to the center of the eyebrows and the crown of the head.
Allow yourself to be open.
Allow yourself to be receiving.
And allow the breath to invite the ancestors who are women.
The ancestors who are sisters,
Mothers,
Daughters,
Grandmothers,
And so on.
Invite the ancestors into the spaces of the body which might be in need of healing.
And once they arrive in this space,
Allow them to be there.
Allow gravity to help the body relax.
You might even notice gravity as a gentle hand,
Showing both focus and attention to the areas which are important to you.
Allow the weight to relax you.
Allow the hands of the ancestors to be part of the weight.
And allow the body to continuously relax.
If you need,
Return to the breath.
Find grounding in the breath.
And allow the body to relax a bit deeper as the women of your lineage bring forth blessings of healing.
Continue with the breath.
Dropping deeper and deeper and deeper into the hands of the ones before you.
Bringing the attention back to the breath.
Check in with the body and be honest about it.
If it is time to move through this meditation,
Continue bringing the attention to the breath.
Bring the attention from the breath up to the heart.
And notice what you feel here.
Notice if there are any differences here.
Notice if there is a sense of calm.
Bring the attention back to the body and the spaces in which you invited your ancestors to heal.
Notice if there are any differences here.
And leading from these spaces,
Bring some movement back into the body.
Just letting your body know that it is time to move.
Once you felt you moved these spaces enough,
Start to move the fingers,
The toes,
Start to move the face.
And when you're ready,
Roll over onto your side.
Take a moment here really connecting back to the body,
Connecting back to the space around you.
And when you're ready,
Push yourself up into a comfortable seat.
Continuing to allow the breath to expand the body and even allowing some small movements if necessary.
Take this time to acknowledge yourself,
Acknowledge your practice,
Acknowledge your ancestors in whichever way you see fit.
It has been a pleasure working with you.
