This meditation is entitled Recover Your Peace.
These days we're all so busy,
Life is harried,
Filled with constant communication,
A flood of information,
And too much tension.
It's really a challenge to be at peace.
And so what I'd like to offer with this meditation is a tool for finding your peace,
Recovering your peace,
In a format that you can use at any time.
So we each have three centers of intelligence and also places within us that can be at peace or in turmoil.
These three centers are our mind,
Our heart,
And our body.
This meditation will bring all three into alignment and into peace.
All right,
Let's begin.
Find a comfortable posture,
Your preferred place for meditating,
And settle in.
As we transition from getting here to being here,
Let's take a series of deep and relaxing breaths.
On the inhalation,
Feeling the lungs fill and the slight pressure it creates between the shoulder blades.
Exhaling,
Experience the relaxation.
And now notice the way your belly swells with a deep and relaxing breath,
And how it pushes the air out like a bellows.
One more full,
Deep breath.
Next,
Notice your feet.
Then gradually bring your attention upward to your knees,
And your seat.
Now notice your core.
Gently bring your awareness to your heart.
Moving upward,
Be aware of your head.
And now expand your awareness to the space around you,
A circle of space surrounding the body.
Next,
In your mind's eye,
Imagine sitting in a comfortable chair outdoors behind a cozy cabin near a beautiful lake.
It's morning,
And the Sun is shining brightly on the water,
And the mountains in the distance on the other side of the lake.
Feel the warmth on your skin.
The breeze gently blows.
The sky is beautiful,
Blue,
Vast.
You feel a sense of ease and relaxation in this beautiful place.
Your mind is quiet,
At ease,
Peaceful.
Your body is grounded,
Present,
Calm.
And in this beautiful place,
Your heart is open,
At ease,
And seems to radiate warmth.
You feel perfectly at peace.
You understand the beautiful infinite sky represents your mind.
Open,
Peaceful,
Calm.
Your body is like the mountains,
Grounded,
Present,
Rooted,
Part of the physical plane.
And your loving heart is like the shimmering lake,
Reflecting light.
Breathe in this alignment of peace in your mind,
Body,
And art.
This peace is within you.
It is yours.
As you breathe in slowly,
Say yes,
Receiving this peace.
And with the exhale,
To yourself,
Say thank you.
Inhale,
Yes,
Accepting this always available peace.
Exhaling,
Thank you,
To share this peace with the world around you.
Breathe in,
Yes,
And breathe out,
Thank you.
And as we bring this meditation toward its close,
Remember,
This peace is within you and always available.
Simply breathe yes and thank you.
This peace,
This gift,
Is yours and yours to share.
In the words of the Buddha,
We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace within ourselves.
