Each of us has a best-self we aspire to become. This meditation focuses on willingness as one key part of growing toward that ideal. Through a guided imagined encounter with your future best self and shared affirmations - this practice will cultivate increased willingness to become more like the person you'd like to be.

This meditation is entitled,

I am willing.

In recent years there's been a lot of attention in the media paid to the law of attraction,

The power of intention,

And movies have even been made,

One entitled The Secret.

It's encouraging a broader understanding of the power of thinking and the role of thought in creation.

Obviously,

Action is also a necessary component and the bridge between thought and action is willingness.

It's an attitude,

It's a feeling that's demonstrated through action.

So this meditation is going to ask you about your willingness.

I'd like to share a quote from another of my favorite teachers,

Eckhart Tolle,

And he says instead of asking what do I want from life,

A more powerful question is what does life want from me?

I think that each of us has a version of ourselves that we'd like to be more like.

In other words,

I'd like to be more like the person I'd like to be.

And the key is just small daily actions taken with willingness.

So my hope with this meditation is that we're all encouraged and inspired to do just a little bit more of that.

So thank you for listening.

And now let's begin.

If you are seated,

I encourage you to place your hands in your lap with your left palm facing up and your right palm facing down,

Balancing the energies of receptivity and assertiveness,

Receiving and giving.

Please sit with your spine straight,

Your head held high and relaxed.

And now gently close your eyes.

Bring your attention to breathing.

That life-giving activity.

We do every moment of this life.

In your mind's eye,

See the air filled with oxygen entering your body,

Feeding your cells and leaving your body to feed the plants.

This miracle of respiration,

Of life.

And now in your mind's eye,

Imagine being outdoors on a beautiful,

Warm autumn day,

Walking along a forest trail,

The colorful leaves gently falling to the ground in the breeze,

The sounds of the birds overhead.

As you get deeper into the forest along this beautiful trail,

You notice a clearing ahead and coming out into the sun-splashed clearing.

You see two chairs next to each other.

Choosing one,

You sit and relax,

Feeling the sun warm your face,

Feeling grateful for the birds and the beauty of the leaves in the breeze.

You feel open at peace.

Across the clearing,

You see someone coming up a trail and toward you with a smile,

In an easy manner,

Confident,

Kind.

And as this person gets closer,

You realize that it is you.

Future you.

Future you looks relaxed,

Confident,

Loving,

At ease,

And encouraging.

Sitting next to you,

You're amazed at this encounter.

Your heart opens and is lifted by meeting your best self.

Wordlessly,

You understand willingness is what has made this best version of you possible.

With a look of knowing and love,

Encouragement,

And certainty,

Future you gazes deep into your eyes.

And in your mutual thought,

These words arise.

I am willing.

I am willing to be more like the person I'd like to be.

I am willing to be kind to myself and others.

I am willing.

I am willing to express gratitude.

I am willing.

I am willing to forgive myself and others.

I am willing.

I am willing to be an attentive listener.

I am willing to imagine.

I am willing to believe in positive possibility.

I am willing.

I am willing to wonder.

I am willing to cry.

I am willing.

I am willing to let go.

I am willing.

I am willing to respond with kindness.

I am willing.

I am willing to find common ground with others.

I am willing.

I am willing to be calm.

I am willing to give love.

I am willing.

I am willing to allow life to flow.

I am willing.

I am willing to learn and change.

I am willing.

I am willing to smile at strangers.

I am willing.

I am willing to ask for help.

I am willing.

I am willing to make choices.

I am willing.

I am willing to practice patience.

I am willing.

I am willing to take action on something I've put off.

I am willing.

I am willing to receive love.

I am willing.

I am willing to give help.

I am willing.

I am willing to share my gifts.

I am willing.

I'm willing to be honest and kind.

I am willing.

I am willing to be more like the person I'd like to be.

I am willing.

Breathing in I am and out willing.

You notice you and your future self are breathing in synchronicity.

I am willing.

Breathing in I am and out willing.

With a warm smile your future self clenches and clasps your hand warmly gazing deeply into your eyes with a message of encouragement then stands and walks back across the clearing onto and down the trail.

You feel lifted,

Encouraged,

And willing to take whatever action spoke to you from these statements today or any other that come to your mind.

Taking what's come to you and moving toward it with willingness.

You will become the person you'd like to be.

Knowing this you rise from your seat.

Turn and walk back down the trail toward this day in your life with the thought the intention marked on your breath.

I am willing.

And so it is.
