Wherever you are,
Find a surface.
It could be a table,
A wall,
Or even your own body,
Like your leg or chest.
And once you find it,
Place your open right hand on it.
Your eyes can be half-closed or softly focused on a nearby point.
Now,
Tune in to the sensations from your hand.
Notice the sensations from the palm,
The wrist,
The fingers.
Is it cool?
Is it warm?
Feel the quality of the surface beneath your hand.
Is it smooth or rough?
Soft or hard?
Hard.
And imagine sending your breath to your hand.
Notice that as long as your attention stays with these sensations,
Your mind is empty,
Free from thoughts.
Allow yourself to stay in this state for a few breaths,
Feeling alive.
Finally,
Take a few breaths and prepare to return.
And remember to go back to this short practice every day.
