The Five of Wands is a card often associated with struggle,
Strife,
And progress despite conflict.
It invites us to work hard with others,
Make the best of a difficult situation,
And to consider alternative approaches.
In this exercise,
We will use active imagination to connect with the energy of the Five of Wands,
Gain insights into navigating conflict and the importance of perseverance.
Finding a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down,
Where you won't be disturbed,
Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths,
Allowing your mind and body to relax naturally.
Just keep your attention on the sensation of the breath for now.
If at any point you get distracted,
Just bring the attention back to the exercise.
And now imagine yourself standing in a vast open field.
Take a moment to check in and construct this environment in your mind.
In your hands,
You're holding a wand.
Take a moment to examine the wand,
Observing its weight,
Texture,
And appearance.
In the distance,
You see a group of five individuals,
Each with their own wand,
Engrossed in what appears to be a challenge or contest.
Approach the group with the wand in your hands.
Watch their interactions,
The energy,
Dynamics,
And conflicts that transpire.
What are they doing?
How are they behaving?
Picture yourself joining the circle.
You're now part of their dynamics and discussions.
Listen to their interactions.
What are they discussing?
As you integrate into the group,
A disagreement comes to the fore.
Notice how this disagreement resonates with you.
Perhaps it reflects a real life situation you are experiencing.
Amidst the disagreements,
You ask yourself a question.
What alternative approaches could we take to resolve this conflict?
Allow for the emergence of potential solutions in your mind.
Imagine the group gradually reaching a resolution.
How does this alter the group dynamics?
How is the energy transformed?
Stay in this place for a while,
Reflecting on your experience.
What insights surface about your approach to conflict or tension?
Now allow the image of the field and the group to fade,
Carrying the experience or any insights gained with you from the exercise.
So just bring your attention back to the room now.
Any sounds or sensations?
Taking a deep breath,
And in your own time,
Opening your eyes again.
