In this exercise, we're going to be re-entering and exploring a recent dream that you had using active imagination. So before you begin, have in mind a dream that still holds a strong emotional charge for you. It could be a particular character, object or situation from the dream that you would like to explore further. Active Imagination is a technique developed by the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung for engaging with the unconscious mind.

So as we begin this exercise,

Have in mind a dream that still holds a strong emotional charge for you.

It could be a particular character,

An object,

Or a situation from the dream that you would like to explore further.

And once you have that,

Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit down or lie down where you won't be disturbed.

Take a few deep breaths.

Just allow the mind and the body to relax.

Just focusing on the breath for now.

If at any point you do get distracted,

Just bring your attention back to the exercise.

Now imagine that you're standing at the edge of a misty,

Mysterious landscape that represents the threshold between the waking world and the dream world.

And as you step forward into the mist,

You feel yourself being transported back into the dream.

You find yourself in the same dream scene that you remember,

But now you are fully present and aware.

Look around you and take in the details of the environment.

Notice the colors,

Textures,

Sounds,

And smells.

Allow yourself to fully immerse in the dream.

As you explore the dream scene,

You come across the character or situation that you wanted to engage with.

Take some time to observe them and notice how you feel in their presence.

If you feel comfortable,

Engage in a conversation with the character or situation.

Ask them any questions you may have.

You can ask,

What is it you are trying to tell me?

Or what is it that I need to see or face?

Or you can simply observe their behavior and mannerisms.

As you interact with the dream character or situation,

Notice any emotions that arise within you.

Allow yourself to experience these emotions fully,

Giving them your complete and bare attention.

Take some time to explore the dream scene further,

Asking any questions that come to mind,

Or simply observing what is happening.

Once you feel that you have explored the dream scene fully,

Thank the dream character or situation for their presence and their teachings.

Remembering that whatever you experience,

Whatever wisdom you take away,

Is a reflection of your own mind and your inner wisdom.

So as you say goodbye,

Visualize yourself stepping back into the misty landscape and returning to the waking world,

Allowing your attention now to come back into the space around you.

Any sounds,

Sensations,

Taking a deep breath,

And in your own time,

Opening your eyes again.

Woke up with my Dad announcing his diagnosis was terminal and I was getting tests as well so pretty good timing for this. Can’t say I got much more deeper insight but I will listen again and then use this when I awake from dreams for I believe there is much useful guidance in them. Thank you🙏🏼
