What separates you and me? In heart awareness with another person, we find what separates us but more importantly, what connects us all. This meditation is best done with another person. You will want to sit across from one another. Find the courage to dive into the heart space and become present with the essence of another's heart.

In this practice,

We're going to attempt to bring awareness to what separates us.

This can be done by sitting in front of a mirror,

But is often best done with another person.

So I'm going to invite you to go ahead and sit down and find a comfortable position to sit.

If you have another person with you,

Go ahead and sit across from one another.

Take a moment to slowly close your eyes,

Letting your hands fall on your knees or in your lap.

Bringing awareness to any noise within the room.

Just noticing.

Now bringing awareness to your breath.

Go ahead and take a couple deep breaths and long exhales.

Now bring your awareness to your chest.

Bringing your attention a couple inches above the skin.

Bringing your awareness to the qualities of the silence in this space.

You may notice a warmth or a coolness.

You may notice how quickly or slowly it moves.

You may notice a slight pressure or a color.

Just take another moment here to notice.

Shoulders up.

Now bring your attention inward,

Moving into the space of the heart.

Bringing all of your attention here and noticing the qualities of the silence.

You might notice a change in depth,

Movement,

Temperature,

Color.

Noticing how the silence moves within the heart as it moves toward the top of the heart,

Toward the back of the heart,

Toward the bottom of the heart,

At the sides of the heart.

Toward the front of the heart.

How it moves through each valve,

Each individual cell.

Now bring your awareness back to the external silence just above your chest.

Just noticing the qualities again.

And at your own pace going back and forth between the two,

The external silence and the internal silence within your heart.

Now bring your awareness to the border between the two,

The border that separates the external from the internal silence and slowly allow this border to dissolve.

Bringing your awareness back to your breath for a moment.

Bringing your awareness back to any noise within the room.

And slowly opening your eyes and looking at the person across from you.

Now take a moment to really look into their eyes.

To be present with their essence and being.

Now close your eyes again and hold the image of this person in your mind.

Bringing your attention back to the space of your heart.

Realizing the silence again within the heart.

With your eyes still closed,

Bringing your awareness to the other person's heart,

To the essence of their heart,

The being of their heart.

And at your own pace move back and forth between the two,

Between your heart and their heart.

Drove by what you melt during a Jonathan Jonathan Now bring your awareness to the border that separates you from them,

From your hearts.

Bring your attention to the border.

Now slowly allow this border to dissolve.

Allowing the heart space to merge.

The divine in you is also the divine in me.

Inwardly take a moment to thank the heart space and the silence.

Bringing awareness back to your breath.

Back to any noise within the room.

Back to your physical body.

And slowly opening your eyes when ready.

And thanking the person across from you.

Namaste.
