So when we first come to an astrological birth chart,
Sometimes it can feel very overwhelming.
There's all these different parts that you're looking at.
There's symbols,
There's numbers,
There's these lines connecting the symbols.
And it can just feel like a lot of information.
We don't even know where to begin.
So today I just wanted to offer a very gentle reframe as to.
What the astrological birth chart means for me when I look at it and how I choose to engage with it on a very personal level.
You know,
I've been studying astrology for more than eight years and during that time.
Astrology has become This language that I speak,
It's a way for me of communicating with the universe.
It's how the universe is communicating to me.
And.
.
.
I think of astrology and the movement of the planets as kind of this sheet of music and we get to choose how we're going to play that sheet of music.
And so,
Yeah,
Today I just wanted to share a very gentle reframe as to how you can approach astrology in a way that feels more personable and accessible to you.
So what is an astrological birth chart?
When we look at an astrological birth chart,
It is essentially a snapshot of the moment when you were born.
If you want to get the most accurate reading of a birth chart,
It's important to know your time of birth,
Your date of birth,
And where you were born.
If you don't have the time of your birth,
You can still get a sense of what your astrological energy is.
It will just be slightly less accurate and you might want to play with different times to see which one resonates the most with you once you learn a little bit more about astrology.
Team.
So when we're looking at an astrological birth time,
We see all those symbols,
Those lines,
Those numbers.
Very simply what it is is the symbols represent the planets,
The lines represent the relationship between them,
And those numbers around the edge that you're going to see 1 through 12,
Those represent the different house areas of an astrological birth chart.
So the houses are really like different areas of life.
We have the first house,
Which is all about your identity.
We have the fifth house,
Which is about creativity and children and self-expression.
We have the 10th house,
Which is kind of how you're seen in the world and your career.
Those are just a few examples.
And then we come to my favorite part,
Which is the planets.
What I have found is that a lot of the time,
Astrology can feel either very intimidating or we can look to it for rigid answers as to how we're supposed to move through life.
We can look to it for reassurance.
Sometimes clinging to that reassurance because we think that it's going to predict something for us.
But.
For me,
In an astrological birth chart,
Those planets are just representing different facets of your personality.
So it's a lot like IFS parts work,
If you've ever encountered that.
Essentially,
IFS is Internal Family System,
So it speaks to the different voices and aspects that exist within us.
Very similarly,
In astrology,
Those different planets are going to represent different parts of your personality.
So you're going to have your inner world,
Your heart,
How you process your emotions.
You're going to have your outer world,
Which is how you're meant to shine and express and be seen.
Then you're going to have how you process thoughts and communicate with the people in your life.
You're going to have this deep base note at the root of your chart,
Which is going to indicate your deepest transformation.
Why we want to get to know all of these different planets is because once we learn where each planet is placed and kind of its different purpose in our chart,
We can learn to facilitate those different conversations within us.
We can start to become familiar with those voices.
You know,
I think of myself and I think of there being a part of me that can be very hyper-perfectionistic and what she needs in order to.
.
.
Move through life and she really needs a purpose,
Right?
And then I have this part of me that This is how I process emotions.
To me very deep and just.
Willing to go to the depths to feel,
To process.
To see my humanity.
Really alchemize the shadows within me.
And then I have a part of me that is more.
In love with love and relationships and beauty and the sensual pleasures of life.
So there's just always gonna be,
There's these different aspects within you.
And sometimes when we look to those lines again we're going to see that some planets will have a harmonious aspect to one another and some planets will have a little bit more of a challenging aspect to one another so this is where you grow we call it a square or an opposition usually those are two of the most common,
More challenging aspects that you're gonna see in an astrological birth chart.
And essentially what you can think of is those are the friction points where you're gonna see the most growth in your life.
And from my perspective,
Once we learn.
The two planets and their voices that are squaring each other or in opposition to each other we can learn to navigate the conversation and the dialogue between them.
So essentially what astrology can give you and what an astrological birth chart can give you is Yeah,
This is a snapshot of who you are based on when your soul entered your body at the moment of your birth.
I think of this as the very particular thread of music that you're here to learn how to play and embody as you're moving through life,
And just how the symphony of the world and everybody living would be less without that thread of music so it's not necessarily that you are.
Right or wrong for how you are in the world immediately.
It's just more learning how to fully embody those gifts and work with the things that challenge you in order to grow into the fullest expression of who you are.
And that's why I really love astrology.
Where to start,
I would say three of the most accessible planets and also the most useful planets would be your sun,
Your moon and your mercury.
So the sun sign.
Most of us know our sun sign this is,
You know,
If you were born on.
July 4th you would get cancer.
This is the classic,
You look to your horoscope.
What day am I born?
And the sun sign is the outer self.
It's how we're meant to shine and express what we've seen in the world.
Now the sun is always in relationship to the moon,
Which is your inner world.
It's your heart.
It's how you process emotions.
We can look to the sun as kind of the ego.
It's the part of us that is encountering the outer world.
And then we have our heart,
Which is our inner world.
And for me,
The moon is such a fundamental,
Important part of your astrological birth chart to learn.
Because once you learn how you can process your emotions more effectively,
It's just so much easier to move through life.
You feel more spaciousness within you and you don't become so blended with those emotions.
And the third aspect I would really encourage people to learn is their mercury.
So mercury is the planet of communication.
Communication in a mundane sense,
Of course,
There's different planets that maybe would rule our higher mind and how we're meant to bring through information from the divine.
But when we're looking to Mercury,
He's really this aspect that can move between all the different planets within us,
But also it's going to be how we communicate with the people in our life.
It's what we need when we wake up first thing in the morning.
It's how we learn and take in information.
So you can see how those three aspects would be a really supportive,
Useful place to start,
Learning how you're meant to shine and express and be seen,
How your inner world is.
And also.
How you can facilitate communication with a little more ease.
In your life.
So if you're feeling overwhelmed by looking at your astrological birth chart,
That is where I would recommend you start.
And when you're looking at your birth chart,
There will often also be a place at the bottom where it will tell you just the name of the planet and then what sign it's in.
Sometimes I like to just look at the words instead of getting so caught up in the symbols because Once you know those words.
It gives you a jumping off point to just look up more information,
Right?
And you don't necessarily need to concern yourself with learning all the symbols right away.
That's not the most practical application of astrology.
Just can feel like a lot of information to take in,
Especially depending on how your specific brain works.
If that really lights you up,
Go for it.
Dive in,
Learn all about it.
But if it's feeling overwhelming and that's You're wanting to work with the tool of astrology,
But you don't know where to start.
Start with your sun,
Your moon,
And your mercury.
And just let it be really simple.
Let the information land in your body.
Take it in over a long span of time.
Give yourself a couple months with each planet if that feels in resonance to you and start to observe how you see those different aspects of yourself playing out in your everyday life.
So that's a little bit about a foundational aspect of astrology,
Which is your astrological birth chart.
I hope this was supportive.
I will see you on the next one.
