There are times when we want for nothing more than to be held in the arms of someone who loves us. There are times when we may find ourselves with this yearning, yet we are alone – there is no one there to soothe the ache that has formed between your shoulder blades, there is no one to hold your tired heart. In these moments, we can turn to a simple visualization to invoke this feeling. In this meditation, you will be guided to bring forth the image of someone who loves you, to be held in their embrace. In this way, you can receive a hug, even if no one is there to physically hold you. You are worthy of being held & loved exactly as you are in this moment. Let’s take a few minutes to sink into this truth.

Hello and welcome to this space.

My name is Maya and I'm going to be guiding you through this meditation today.

So before we begin I invite you to settle into your space.

Make sure you're somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed for a few minutes and that you feel safe to relax and let go.

Once you feel safe and ready to do so you can gently close your eyes or you can let your gaze rest on something in the horizon.

We're going to bring the attention into the breath.

Following the rise and fall of the chest or the belly wherever your attention is drawn today.

You can notice any thoughts that begin to drift into your awareness and gently come back to the breath.

Inhale and exhale following your natural rhythm.

As you're here just begin to notice anywhere you may be holding on to tension that is not necessary.

So if you can unclench your jaw allow your shoulders to drop down from your ears allow your collarbones to soften and widen and just let yourself be here now.

There's nothing for you to do,

There's nowhere else for you to be except inside this moment.

Continuing to follow the breath.

Just going to gently bring your awareness to the back of your heart space.

So this is a place where we tend to carry a lot of tension.

I like to think of the shoulder blades as these two protective plates that are holding space on either side of our heart.

That upper part of our spine is very important to hold our head up all day long.

It's where we can often find our emotions stuck,

Congested especially if we've been carrying too much on our own.

So now we're going to bring forward the image of someone you love.

Just invite them into the space now.

This can be a parent it can be a friend,

A lover it can be a child.

You're going to imagine them walking towards you.

You can feel the love that they have for you the safety that you feel in their presence.

The way your shoulders begin to melt.

Just knowing that you don't have to carry it all alone.

There's someone else in this space with you.

You meet their gaze and they just hold you.

They continue to walk towards you until you're close enough to touch.

You can feel the warmth of their body radiating off of them.

And if it feels in resonance you can invite them to give you a hug.

They place their hands on your shoulders on your upper back,

Embracing you physically taking a load off.

You feel your breath sync up with theirs and you can just rest your head wherever it feels comfortable to do so based on the person that you are hugging in this moment.

Maybe you hear their heartbeat through their chest.

And again just notice what does it feel like to fully surrender into their embrace?

To know that you don't have to hold it all together right now.

That maybe you're tired.

You have been so strong for so long.

You have been doing so much on your own.

Maybe you've been worried about a situation or someone in your life.

You're unsure about the future.

You're unsure how things are going to work out or how they may look 6 months from now,

2 months from now,

Even a week from now.

But for now,

None of that matters.

You can just let yourself rest here.

Rest in the arms of this person that you love.

Let them hold you.

It's okay if you feel tired.

You are not failing if you need to slow down.

You are not failing if you don't feel like you can do it all anymore.

There is nothing wrong with your experience in this moment.

This person tells you,

Hey,

I've got you.

I'm not going anywhere.

They witness and honor your strength.

If there's anything else they want to say to you in this moment,

Just open yourself to receive it.

Let the words come through.

Begin to bring this moment to a close.

So they step back and place their hands on your shoulders.

Hold your gaze one more time.

Feel the love that exists here.

Know that you will carry this into the rest of your day,

Into the rest of your week,

Into any moments that feel challenging.

Your person begins to turn and slowly walk back in the direction that they came from.

You are back with yourself inside this moment.

Allowing any feelings that need to move through you to do so.

You can stay here as long as you need.

And when you feel ready,

You can just wiggle your fingers,

Wiggle your toes,

Become aware of your physical body,

And open your eyes.
