There are these moments in life when you feel yourself right on the cusp of receiving something good — or perhaps the good is already here, and you don’t quite know how to handle it. When good things arrive, it can feel scary — especially if we’re coming out on the other side of a challenging season, because we don’t know how to trust that it will stay. This poem is a gentle reminder for those moments. You will be alright, whatever rainbows you find on the other side of these storm clouds. Let the good find you, let the good come. It is time to allow yourself to receive what is for you. Original poem by Maia Thomlinson.

Let the good things come.

Listen,

I know it is scary.

Sometimes this life feels so big,

So much.

Everything happening and moving all at once and all you wish is for it to slow down just for a minute so you can be with it.

I know it feels overwhelming.

What if the good comes but then it all just slips away?

What if you're wrong about some decision you felt compelled to make?

But then,

You were the one who walked yourself to this moment,

Aren't you?

You moved towards the things that lit you up and followed your gut.

It is you,

The one who learned to walk with your demons.

Who faced your fears in the dark and tenderly,

Tenderly learned how to speak with the parts of you who are still aching.

If you were the one who built this life,

Who is to say you are not capable of sustaining it?

This is the journey.

The person you become along the way to pursuing your dreams.

They do not simply disappear when destiny finally drops in.

That version of you,

She is the one waking every morning to draw back the blinds and return to the work.

She is capable and strong and resilient by all the ways these months have tested her stamina.

What brought you here may not get you where you are going,

But she is the one who placed the bricks one by one when you could not see the path.

You will be all right.

You will be all right,

Whatever rainbows you find on the other side of these storm clouds.

It is okay to let yourself be embraced by their warmth.

When the good things come,

Let them.

You already have everything you need within you to take these next steps.
