Breathing exercise for balance.
This is a classic breathing pranayama exercise and it's a classic for a reason.
So good for balancing out your energy,
Balancing out the body and the mind.
Really at any time of day,
This one is really useful.
It's kind of a core practice.
So I'll guide you in step by step.
First you want to find a comfortable seated position.
And when you're ready,
Place your hands down onto your knees.
Flip over your right hand so the palm is facing up.
Now there's a traditional way to practice this breathing exercise and this exercise is called Nadi Shodhana or alternate nostril breathing.
So to do it,
You take your index finger and your middle finger of your right hand.
And you curl them down towards the palm so you have the thumb,
Ring finger,
And pinky still sticking up.
This is called Vishnu Mudra.
Learn a gesture with our hands to help with the balance.
However,
If this isn't comfortable or it's not possible,
You can simply follow my instructions.
So you raise your hand up towards your nose.
And if you're not engaging in Vishnu Mudra,
Then you can take your two peace fingers and put them on your third eye,
So in between your eyebrows.
So.
The way this works is we close off one nostril and inhale through one,
Close that one off,
And exhale through the other,
Going back and forth between inhaling and exhaling on either side.
The mouth is closed,
And we're only breathing in through each side of the nostril.
Okay,
So we'll take your hand up to the nose and block off the right nostril with your thumb and breathe in through the left.
Two,
Three,
Four.
Block it off and hold,
And exhale right,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale right,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Close right,
Open left,
Exhale,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Four,
Inhale left,
Two,
Three.
Or and close,
Exhale right,
Two,
Three.
Or continuing inhale to or exhale left.
Two,
Three,
Four.
Now a few rounds at your own pace.
Sensing the balance.
As you focus your energy on either side.
Breathing at your own pace.
Beautiful.
And the next time that you exhale through the left,
Hold for a moment.
Then place your hand back down onto your lap,
Palm facing down,
And inhale this sweet,
Balanced air.
And breathe normally.
Just relax.
Without forcing or changing anything.
Noticing how the energy moves,
Noticing the effects of this pranayama breathing exercise.
How it lands in the body.
Beautiful.
Thank you so much for practicing with me and I wish you much happiness as you continue with your practices.
Thank you for tuning in today and I'll catch you another time.
Namaste.
