Today's talk is inspired by a conversation I have had many times with myself and others. Meditation was truly the practice that introduced me to God after years of feeling confused, isolated, lonely, and frustrated with fundamentalist Christians and less-than-honorable new-age teachers. In this track, I will explain the reason why most people don't feel connected to God or can only reach that breakthrough with external substances/practices. We are here on Insight Timer because we know intuitively that true, loving awareness and reflection is the way that we heal for the long-term. No gimmicks here, just honesty. May you be blessed infinitely as you seek the presence of Unconditional Love.

So why is it so hard to connect with God?

Everyone always says we're one with the divine,

That spirit is within,

But how come I don't feel that way?

How come I don't feel that way?

Some people say you have to take psychedelics to meet God,

Gotta do breath work,

Gotta do ceremony or skydive or fast or go on a silent retreat,

But see what happens when we try to curate these grandiose moments of the divine is the little moments of his presence will never be enough.

We become hyper-focused on seeking this ego death to reach that union consciousness once more,

No longer relating to the three-dimensional existence or anyone or anything around us.

We start wanting to bypass our work here in the material world in order to reach that place of pure holiness we found on a spiritual high.

I'm not demonizing any of these practices,

I'm simply hoping to bring awareness to why it sometimes feels like God is far away.

See the yoga didn't give you God,

Neither did the church or the breath work or the drugs or medicine,

Whatever you want to call it.

What those things did was it removed what was in the way of the innate connection that you already have to God.

It's just like how alcohol doesn't really give you confidence,

It just temporarily takes away the fears and inhibitions that lie between you accessing it.

Your confidence is already within you,

Your connection is already within you.

God will never leave you.

We turn from God.

We turn from the light to avoid seeing the truth so we don't have to acknowledge how much we've turned our backs on ourselves and it's not God that's shaming you,

It's ourselves.

Maybe that's what the Bible meant when Adam and Eve covered themselves in fig leaves to hide their bodies.

It was their own shame that put a barrier between them and unconditional love.

So if you're needing that moment with spirit and you're feeling a bit stuck,

I encourage you to get real with yourself.

Be willing to see and hear all of the ugly things you haven't wanted to acknowledge or handle.

Know that you don't even have to handle them right now.

You won't be judged either way,

You still have free will and choice.

You will be welcomed into presence with loving kindness,

Simply with your willingness.

And then when you have some time to really sit down,

Maybe outside if you can,

Without any distractions at all,

Completely sober,

Maybe even without music,

And then simply say out loud,

God or spirit,

Universe,

Angels,

However you have this relationship,

God I won't move until you speak.

I won't move until you speak.

And mean it.

Don't get up until you feel that God is in the room.

Notice the resistance,

Lean into the emotion,

Get real,

Get real with yourself.

May each of you be blessed by the presence of pure unconditional love today.

May it pour over into your families,

Your careers,

And your lives.

And so it is.

Feeling a disconnect from the divine and really wanting to bridge that relationship, I believe this will help me do that - thank you

I’ve started listening to this every evening before going to sleep. It’s truly beautiful…perhaps because of the music, or the cadence of your voice, or your delivery, or a combination of all these things. However, it seems to me that what makes it so special are your words. They touch what is real, and speak of the only thing we really need to do to connect with ā€˜God’…and that’s to get ourselves out of the way. You remind me of that each time I listen and I thank you for it. We over complicate everything, and we need to be reminded that all we need to do to connect is to stop, be still, be quiet, and get ourselves out of the way; it’s then that we feel ’God’, and see ā€˜God’ in all things…ALL things. This short guided meditation does this like nothing else I’ve heard and I am truly grateful.

Last night I listened to my husband of 33 years share some very dark thoughts and memories from his early grade school years which are not new to me. During this time as I listened I was struck by how alone he felt even now 50+ years beyond the trauma. I’m well aware of childhood trauma and memories as I have my own. The difference between him & I is that I have run towards finding solutions, peace and doing my best to grow from it to move beyond, and years ago I felt like he had done similar things although different than me. Last night I heard a broken boy sounding like he was alone on an island. As I held him I reminded him that he is indeed now a grown man here and now and that he did not get through that all on his own. I was struck by my own feelings at times of feeling utterly alone and caught up in memories brought on by triggers and found gratitude in my own behavior(s) of running to sit in silence with god/creator/source. Namaste and blessings šŸ™šŸ»āœØšŸ’œ

Listening to this helped me see a new perspective on my connection with God. A beautiful reminder that there's a unwavering connection between us. Thank you.

Great insights for connecting with unconditional love and that it’s more about removing encumbrances, because God is already there šŸ™šŸ¼

Wow. Thank you; thank you; thank you. God is here. God is close. God is you and me and wee and one and all. And with a clear and sober intent, God is revealed, in you in me in we. And so it is.
