I want to help you create the inner conditions needed for a restorative, healthy night. When we have trouble sleeping, we often try to force ourselves to fall asleep and this might only make it worse. If there is too much agitation within ourselves -- thoughts, feelings, or unpleasant bodily sensations --prevent us to fall asleep. We must first transform the agitation, and allow it physically, mentally and emotionally, to achieve inner fluidity.

Hello and welcome to this meditation for restorative sleep.

Taking time for rest.

Taking your time to slow down.

In this meditation you will prepare your body and mind for rest.

Please take a moment to get into a position that is most comfortable for you.

If they are not closed already,

Gently close your eyes.

Here you are at a time of the day where the months of being with others is over.

This is your time.

No one is here to compete for your attention.

Allow your attention to settle into the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe.

Observe yourself as you inhale and exhale through your nose.

There is no need to alter your breathing.

Just breathe.

Breathing in and out.

Be here now.

As you settle in,

Allow your body to relax and let go all what is unpleasant,

What is worrying you.

Open your mouth and exhale them out.

Notice this veil comforting you.

This veil is a warm gift that receives you every night after you accomplish so much.

Breathing in and out.

Be here now.

Breathing in and out.

Breathing in and out.

Be here now.

You might discover your mind revisiting what you have just lived today or even planning ahead for the coming days.

If you notice this,

Gently bring your awareness back to the zone of my voice and the sensations of your blankets on you.

Breathing in and out.

Be here now.

As you breathe,

Pay attention to any pleasant sensations like temperature or texture or weight of the blankets around you.

Breathe in with an awareness of these pleasant sensations.

Allow the body and mind to be just as they are.

Breathing in and out.

Be here now.

Breathing in and out.

Be here now.

Breathing in and out.

In and out.

In and out.
