When the heart chakra is out of balance,

You may be moving through feelings of grief,

Of heartache,

Of disconnection,

Of detachment from source energy and yourself.

The heart chakra is also associated with the lungs.

And so physical symptoms of the heart chakra being out of balance could include problems with your breath,

Potentially asthma,

Lymphatic problems as well,

And not forgetting the back,

Upper shoulders and back issues can be associated with the heart chakra.

If your heart chakra is overactive,

You may find that you have feelings of addiction with love.

You may feel that you're being clingy.

You may feel that you want to love bomb somebody that you first meet,

Or you may feel like you're having heart palpitations and rushes of energy throughout the body.

The heart chakra is in the center of your chest,

Most obviously associated with your heart itself.

Bringing the chakra into balance allows you to have a great sense of self-love,

A great sense of giving and receiving that yin and the yang feeling totally in balance with being able to receive love as well as to give it,

Both to yourself and to others.

With an open heart chakra,

You're able to feel abundant.

You're able to not take things personally and you're able to move forward with confidence and love in everything that you're doing.

Green is the color associated with the heart chakra.

So in order to help stabilize,

It's always wise to take yourself out into nature to surround yourself with the earth and all of the green trees and shrubbery that you might find within your surroundings.

The element of the heart chakra is air.

So in the same way,

Feel the air blowing through your hair.

Feel the air on your cheeks,

On your eyes,

On your ears as you walk outside in the breeze.

Take yourself on a bike ride so you can allow that air to push past you to open up the chest and feel the flow of energy with the air as it opens up this area of the body.

Taking big,

Deep breaths is another way to help calm and balance the heart chakra,

Bringing it back into alignment.

The essential oils that support this chakra of the body are jasmine,

Patchouli,

Rose,

Of course,

Rosewood,

Eucalyptus,

And bergamot.

All of these warm,

Floral scents are great to have around when you're trying to balance this area of the body.

You can support yourself with crystals like rose quartz,

The most common crystal associated with the heart chakra,

But you can also find support from green ones like amazonite and adventurine,

Stones that offer you hope,

Serenity,

And peace,

Which is always where our heart wants to be.

In order to help support your heart chakra on a daily basis,

Allow yourself to have self-care practices within your weekly routine.

Maybe that's taking a bath,

Taking a walk in nature,

Allowing yourself some time for one-on-one reading,

Or even doing the meditations that I have available for you on the Insight Timer app.

Having connection with friends and family open up our heart chakra.

Supported from our root chakra,

Knowing that we have a stable community around us,

The love we're able to receive from community,

From friends and family,

Enables us to be open within our heart chakra and give as much as we receive.

I find even placing one hand on the chest is a great way to come back to yourself,

To give yourself some love,

To close your eyes for a minute and allow yourself to really breathe into the body and be grateful for all that you have in this moment and this time.

If you want to do the meditation I have available on the heart chakra,

You can find it on my profile.
