This simple 4-minute visualisation allows you to distance yourself from a stressful situation that's bothering you. This is a powerful tool that you can use to recover quickly from the stress of everyday life. You can use this tool after the event, perhaps to help you de-stress and continue with your day. Or when you're ready for sleep and you want to distance yourself from the situation and sleep easier. Thank you for listening.

Let's start by making yourself comfortable.

Either sat on a chair with your back supported or lying down on the floor or a bed.

Close your eyes and take three long deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

With your eyes closed,

Look through your own eyes and imagine the unwanted situation or person in front of you.

As you see the image just floating or there in front of you,

Notice where you feel an attachment to it.

This will be a feeling somewhere in your body,

Perhaps your head,

Stomach or heart.

Once you know where the feeling is,

Imagine a piece of string attached to that part of your body.

You notice that string is pulling and as you follow the length of the string,

You look up and notice that the string is attached to the unwanted situation or person out in front of you.

Now look back to where the string is attached to your body and take a pair of scissors to cut the string so it is no longer attached to you.

As this happens,

You start to see the string float away.

You look up and see that the image of the situation you want to detach from is floating away into the distance.

Keep watching as it floats away until you can't see it anymore or it's a tiny,

Tiny dot in the distance.

Now take another long deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And when you're ready,

Open your eyes.
