Give yourself the gift of slowing down and getting still. Get present with your breath. Notice the busyness of the mind. Without the need to judge or control your awareness simply invite your attention into the present moment. If you find yourself distracted, be patient. Your attention may often be drawn to the past or the future—that's very common. As you practice the art of slowing down and getting still, you will begin to notice a new kind of awareness. Your awareness will no longer be a reactive or defensive mechanism. As you continue to practice, your awareness will be open, available, and present to new inspiration, opportunities, and creativity. I am joined by my good friend and collaborator, Brendan Doshi, on piano.

Welcome to today's meditation.

My name is Lola Wright,

And I am joined by Brendan Doshi.

Today's meditation is on the practice of stillness.

You'll notice during today's meditation that there are fewer words.

Allow yourself to turn within and trust your awareness and where it takes you.

If at any time during today's practice,

You notice your mind wandering,

You can always bring your awareness back to your breath by noticing the rise and fall of your chest,

The expansion and contraction of your belly.

So as we begin to enter this practice,

Bring your eyes closed and your body still.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Begin to deepen your breath into your belly,

Breathing more deeply than may be typical for you.

Oxygenating every cell of your body such that you may feel the full aliveness of your body.

Continue to bring your awareness to your breath,

Noticing the rise and fall of your body.

Thank yourself for taking time to get still.

Trust that your experience in this practice is always perfect.

Allocating time for yourself to slow down,

Bring your awareness to your breath,

And be with yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give to you and to this planet.

So take three deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Giving yourself the gift of an audible exhale.

Begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes.

Whenever you're ready,

Go ahead and open your eyes.

Begin to notice the world around you.

May you be well.
