Welcome to today's meditation.
My name is Lola Wright and I am joined by Brendan Doshi.
Today's meditation is on the practice of letting go.
Letting go of being right.
Releasing the need to make others wrong.
Transcending the seduction of our binary models of good,
Bad,
Right and wrong.
So as we enter into this meditation,
I invite you to find yourself in a comfortable position.
Begin to bring your body still.
Perhaps bring your eyes closed.
Deepen your breath into your belly.
Breathing more deeply than may be typical or even comfortable for you.
As we begin to enter into this practice of release and letting go,
Begin to scan your body from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet.
Notice where you may be hanging on to any constriction,
Any gripping,
Any bracing.
Pay particular attention to your brow.
Invite the brow to soften.
Bring your awareness to your jaw.
Invite your tongue to rest on the bottom inside of your teeth,
Creating space between your top and bottom teeth.
Let go of anything and everything that you may be holding on your shoulders or in your back.
Invite your arms to become heavy and your shoulders to fall.
As you continue to deepen your breath into your belly,
Notice your belly soften.
Realize the rise and fall of your chest and the expansion and contraction of your diaphragm.
As your body has begun to relax,
Ask yourself what you've been holding on to.
What judgment,
What criticism,
What position has kept you stuck?
Where have you felt trapped?
Perhaps in a loop of condemnation,
Either of yourself,
Another person,
An organization,
Perhaps even a policy or a position.
Where do you notice your mind fixating on something that is beyond your control?
See if you can witness or watch the judgment,
The criticism,
The righteousness that lives in you,
That has you in its grip.
As you bring this issue,
This person,
This experience into your mind's eye,
Imagine placing it in the palm of your hands.
You might even begin to clench your fists and notice how tightly you're holding on.
Continue to deepen your breath.
Each inhale and exhale.
See if you'd be willing to relax your hands,
Your grip,
Your position or your point of view without needing to manage the outcome.
Would you be willing to begin to let go?
At any moment,
You can choose to release righteousness.
Let go of condemnation.
Invite your body to soften,
Your mind to relax,
And your heart to be made open.
As you bring your awareness to the intention of letting go of judgment,
Criticism,
Condemnation,
And righteousness,
You need not know how.
Simply invite the intention for surrender to have its way with you now.
Begin to notice the softness and the relaxation that has set in to your body.
Feel your hands in the open and receptive position.
At any moment,
You can trust that there's something greater going on here.
That no matter what may catch your eye,
Seduce your attention,
That you can relax into something greater.
You can let go of control,
Trusting deeply that there is a greater plan at play.
And that if there is an action for you to take as it relates to this relationship or issue,
This organization,
Or whatever is capturing your attention,
You can trust that you will be led,
Guided,
And directed.
Your action need not be fueled by righteousness,
Adrenaline,
Control,
Or force.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Give yourself the gift of an audible exhale.
Would you be willing to trust that in this now moment,
All is well?
