Let's start by taking some deep breaths in through the nose.
Deep breath in,
Hold,
And let it out through the nose.
Deep breath in,
Hold,
And out.
Deep breath in,
Hold,
Release.
Again deep breath in,
Hold,
Release.
Turn to gentle rhythmic breathing in through the nose,
Out through the nose,
And if you're lying in bed,
I want you to put your hands on your belly.
And your goal by the end is to have your breath all the way down in your belly,
Out of your shoulders,
No shallow breathing.
We often don't breathe enough or deeply enough and that translates to our bodies as we're not safe.
You are safe now.
You are whole now.
There's nothing that you need to do except breathe and relax.
Worry,
Stress,
Anxiety,
Let it go.
With every out breath and though internally you're feeling lighter with every breath,
Your body is sinking deeper and deeper into the mattress.
You imagine going down,
Being enveloped,
Your blanket on you,
Keeping you safe and warm.
From your head being supported by the pillow,
Following the path down your neck,
Your spine,
Let gravity pull you deeper and deeper as you give yourself the space between each vertebrae for blood flow and oxygen to get in and heal,
Rejuvenate those life-giving,
Life-moving bones.
Sinking in even deeper now.
Notice your breath down in your belly.
Notice your shoulders relax,
Your feet falling away from each other.
Relax.
Love your body.
Your body is following your mind and right now everything feels good and calm and you can drift off.
