The Power Of Setting Goals
The subconscious mind needs to work towards a goal. If you do not give your subconscious mind a goal, it will operate off of whatever faulty information has already been downloaded. If you want an amazing life, you need to set goals!

Welcome to the Breakdown to Breakthrough podcast.
My name is Lisa A.
Romano.
I am a life coach,
Bestselling author,
YouTube vlogger,
Meditation teacher,
And expert in the field of codependency and narcissistic abuse.
I am a believer in the power of an organized mind.
My aim is to help people learn what it means to live above the veil of consciousness rather than living a reactive life.
May your heart feel blessed,
Your mind feel expanded,
And your spirit find hope as you spend time with me here at the Breakdown to Breakthrough podcast.
Today we're going to be talking about the power of setting goals and why you need to absolutely set goals and why if your life isn't working out the way you'd like it to,
It may have something to do with the way you are not using your subconscious,
Unconscious mind.
Let's understand that the mind is both conscious and unconscious at the same time.
That what is going on below the surface in the subconscious mind is actually like a blueprint and the subconscious mind is not creative.
The conscious mind is creative.
The subconscious mind only says yes,
Yes,
Yes,
Yes,
Yes,
Yes,
Yes.
So if I'm worried about being stuck in traffic,
The subconscious mind says traffic,
Traffic,
Traffic,
Traffic.
If I'm worrying about something terrible happening with my children,
Then my subconscious mind is thinking terrible things are going to happen to my children,
Terrible things are going to happen to my children.
When I come from a dysfunctional home and I have been taught to believe through conditioning that I am not good enough and children are taught that they're not good enough in obvious ways,
As well as not so obvious ways,
You don't have to tell a little girl that you don't think she's beautiful.
You know,
You just don't have to tell her that you think she's beautiful.
She'll figure it out on her own that you don't think she's beautiful.
You don't have to tell a child that they're not good.
All you have to do is not tell a child that they are good.
You don't have to tell a child that they're bad.
All you have to do is not tell the child that they're good.
Children will assume all on their own what you think and how you feel.
And besides that,
Children are highly intuitive.
Always as they age and they learn about the norms and the rules of society,
Like don't say that.
Don't think that good girls don't do that bad boys.
Don't do that.
Good boys.
Don't do that.
Bad girls don't do that this.
That and the other thing where,
Where we're conditioned to believe what society wants us to believe,
Which really does affect our ability to stay tethered to our truest self,
You know,
And tap into our intuition.
And so,
You know,
On the road to recovery,
What we're trying to do is figure out ways to enhance our lives and try to make sure that we're making the best out of our mind and the best out of our subconscious mind so that we can live an amazing,
Abundant life.
Now,
When we want to set goals,
We have already made a shift because most people are not setting goals.
Most people's goal is an unconscious goal.
I have to get up.
I have to brush my teeth.
I have to go to work.
I have to,
Have to,
Have to,
Have to,
Have to.
Out of obligation,
Make money.
But are people going to work because they want to?
Are they going to work because they enjoy what they do?
Or are they going to work because they have to,
Have to,
Have to,
Have to,
Have to?
And if they're going to work because they have to,
Have to,
Have to,
Have they ever asked themselves what they want?
Have they ever asked themselves what job or what career or what experience they would like to do that might net them a different result?
Because it is possible to manifest money and enjoy what you do,
But not if you're not asking yourself,
Well,
What do you want to do?
If you're someone who doesn't routinely ask themselves what you want,
It's time to ask yourself why you don't do that.
If you came from a home where no one asked you how you felt,
Then it's pretty obvious.
You don't have the mirror neurons to ask yourself what you want.
You don't have the data.
You don't know that you're supposed to ask yourself what you want.
You might think that your job is to stay hypervigilant and pay attention to what daddy wants,
What mommy wants,
Or what your stepdad or your stepmom wants,
Or what your older sibling needs or what your younger sibling needs,
Or what the teacher thinks about you,
What the gymnastic coach thinks about you,
Or what your dance teacher thinks about you,
And so on.
You may have been programmed to think that it is not your job to stay tethered to the self.
It's your job to worry about everyone else and worry about what they think about you,
Which of course is dysfunctional and not the truth,
But it's our subconscious programming.
And our subconscious programming is running the ship.
That is the way the subconscious mind works.
And so the subconscious mind is the guidance force for your entire life.
And this is a quote by Kevin Mickle.
And so it's really important that as you become awakened and as you become more aware and as you stay on the recovery path and the personal development path,
You understand the power of the subconscious mind.
You are 95% subconscious and only 5% conscious.
95% of what you do is based on who you've been and what you've experienced.
And a lot of what you have been downloaded to believe happened before you were even 7 years old.
So it's really,
Really important that we make sure that you're paying attention to this idea that who you are and who you think you are could be really responsible for what's running your life.
It could be subconscious and it could be tied to being 7 or 6 or 5 or 12.
So it's a really important concept for people to awaken to.
So time is limited,
Right?
There's just so much time that you're going to have to figure out who you are and to do what you need to do.
So understanding that one of the goals that we need to place on ourselves is to learn how to,
As quickly as possible,
Use our life and use our time to our advantage.
And so if you're someone who's not setting goals,
Then you're not going to achieve what you want.
You're not asking for it.
You're not acting on it.
You don't believe that your goals can come true.
The universe can't help you make that happen.
So setting goals is about taking the time to realize that A,
You're not setting goals and then to B,
To start shifting into a goal mindset.
So it means that I'm going to start using my subconscious mind to my advantage.
So what does that mean?
Every day it is your job to wake up and imagine your world exactly as you wish it to be.
Instead,
What most people do is they wake up and they recycle the thoughts they had yesterday and the day before.
They ruminate.
They obsess.
If you're codependent,
You're obsessing about what everybody else needs and what everybody else thinks and what everybody else wants.
That's what you do when you're codependent.
You're codependent upon something or someone outside of you.
And so it's not your norm to wake up and say,
Hmm,
What do I want to see happen today?
What do I want to see happen in three months?
Where do I see myself in six months?
Nope.
And if you're somebody who struggles with a scarcity mindset or a victim mindset,
Lots of times you're wasting your time,
Your precious time,
Time that you could be spending manifesting,
Feeling sorry for yourself.
Why me?
Why does she have that thing?
Why does she have that relationship?
Why can't I ever have that relationship?
And what you're doing is you're beating the drum of a negative experience,
Which is actually not the experience you want.
But until you align with the experience that you want and you set a goal to becoming in alignment,
To become in alignment with what you desire,
You're never going to manifest that relationship.
Never.
You're not in alignment with it.
Your attitude is negative.
It's a self pity attitude.
And if it's a self pity attitude,
Well,
Certainly that's not on the vibration of love and abundance and prosperity and peace,
Which is what every great relationship has the potential to bring into your life.
And so it's really important that you recognize that setting the goal to think about what you do want versus what you don't want is huge.
It will change your life.
So if you're not someone who routinely wakes up in the morning and asks yourself,
What would I like to see happen today?
Maybe it's time that you start thinking that way.
Instead of getting up and ruminating about what happened yesterday,
Ask yourself,
Can I control this thing?
Is this thing even my responsibility?
What am I trying to control here?
Who am I trying to control here?
What am I most afraid of?
Where are the links that stink?
Where is the codependent thought in this process?
Who am I feeling addicted to?
What am I addicted to?
What am I avoiding by not setting goals?
Why don't I set goals?
You have to be able to and be willing to explore who you are,
Why you think the way you think.
And once you do,
Once you understand,
Oh,
Okay,
My mom was codependent,
For instance.
My dad was more narcissistic.
So my dad's goal was to work and make money,
And my mother's goal was to take care of my dad and support him.
But in this,
She really never set a goal for herself.
And then kids came along and the goal was whatever the kids needed for that day.
So my mom never had a goal for herself.
She was an extension.
She was a limb of everybody else's life.
Once you understand why you don't set goals,
Why it's not your norm to set goals,
Then you have an opportunity to shift because now your subconscious mind recognizes what you're not doing.
This is very important data.
This is how you use your conscious mind,
Your creative mind,
To impress your subconscious mind with new data.
So now you want to wake up every day and you want to spend 15,
20,
30 minutes.
Personally,
I spend an hour every day imagining your day and your life precisely as you would like it to be.
You envision the house you'd like to live in,
The job you'd like to have.
You imagine yourself walking into the building,
Sitting in the chair,
Having conversations with the precise people who are going to make this happen for you.
Imagine what that feels like.
What does your office look like?
Maybe you work from home.
What does the home office look like?
What would you like it to look like?
So you're impressing your mind with all of these amazing visions of how you want your life to eventually turn out.
And you can do this for the long haul.
You can do it for just the day.
You can ask yourself,
How do I want the data to turn out?
Who would I like to talk to today?
What would I like to get done today?
But instead of just jotting it down,
You spend a few minutes actually envisioning,
Visualizing yourself having completed the goal.
This is no different than the exercises that they've done with college students where they ask them to practice visualizing yourself,
Shooting the basketball into the hoop.
When they took these kids who just use visualization,
They compared in some cases better to the kids who actually practice physically shooting a basketball into the hoop.
This is the power of visualization.
And when you use the power of visualization and you couple it with goal setting,
You have a winning combination.
The question is,
Will you do it?
The question is,
Will you develop the neural pathways that are associated with daily habits?
Will you do that?
Will you invest in the time?
Will you push yourself?
Will you remind yourself?
Will you leave post-it notes around the house to remind yourself to go spend a half an hour thinking about your goals,
Thinking about your dreams?
Will you do this?
Because at the end of the day,
If you don't,
Just turn around and look at your past because that will be your future.
It doesn't have to be that way.
And until you make that which is unconscious conscious,
You will eventually have your life unfold and rather than recognize your life as something moldable,
You will call it fate.
And that is according to the amazing Carl Jung.
So try to be more conscious today,
Try to be more deliberate today,
And rather than focus on what you don't want,
Focus on what you do want and use the power of visualization to impress your subconscious mind with this amazing data.
Thank you so much for being here.

Really loved- powerful to describe exactly what I'm not doing. I try to improve myself daily but I can't get over the hump of what I don't want so I get what I do want. Thanks for that push!

Thank you very much for speaking up on this important topic. I’ve been visualising and having vision boards for the last 3 years or so, and what I’ve realised is 1) the power of the subconscious mind😅 and 2) if it’s not ‘meant to be’ you can set as many personal goals as you like and it’s still not manifesting. With ‘meant to be’ I don’t mean that God or source is deliberately stopping us from living our fullest potential. I think it’s much more subtle than that. Which brings me to 3) One’s life purpose requires a deep, humble and honest listening. Sometimes it actually IS to get up every day and go to work 8 hours. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it is to be an entrepreneur, but not in the exact area we thought it was with our limited mind😀 Because sometimes ego messes up the goal setting. Thanks again for this🙌🍀🙏☀️

This nailed it for me. I see why I’m stuck. I now understand why I don’t set goals. I set them and then don’t accomplish them or have a clear understanding of what the hell I want! Great podcast will be repeating this one and more importantly get honest and humble myself to roll up my sleeves and get with it! It’s crazy thinking when you think you have confidence but it’s surfaced fake programming! I Am enough but deep down I am still thinking I am not. Ugh I know in time as I keep on the path it will get better! Not easy though. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to keep us on track to waking up to codependency.🙏❤️💫👍🧘♀️🧚♀️
