I'm Lindsay.
Welcome to today's meditation about meeting the calm one inside,
The one that is there beneath all the noise.
So take a moment to get settled,
Whether that's sitting or lying down.
And begin noticing your breath in and out the nose,
The belly rising and falling,
And any body parts that are holding tension softening under the gaze of your gentle awareness.
And letting your body breathe,
The breath enter and leave.
There's no need to breathe in a specific way.
And let's begin.
She's here,
There,
Everywhere.
Some days she hides,
Buried under a veil of heaviness that pervades her entire being.
She is the one that feels softness,
The part of you that is able to soothe you on the days you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders.
When your footing feels unsteady and you gingerly try to find solid ground.
Where is the unwavering solidity of the earth when you need it the most?
When the one that feels anger and frustration sparks and rages and wants to fight but doesn't really know why.
But it is easier and more willing to come into force than the one that is gentle,
Patiently willing,
Waiting to be called into action.
She is your essence,
Your true nature.
The one that feels love,
Shows love and wants to wrap you in her warm embrace.
But the visceral intensity of the one that is fearful grabs you and holds on tight.
You feel it in the heat of your skin,
The dryness of your mouth,
The beating of your heart and the pounding in your head.
And your thoughts rush through incoherent and loud.
So you stay here because it is all-consuming and you feel lost and wonder who is this one?
This enduring part of me that is angry and disconnected.
The one that destroys and breaks me down.
What does she need?
How can I soothe her?
To let this part of me know she is loved and heard and seen and that everything is going to be okay.
The calm one rises up,
Takes a slow conscious breath and stands in her power.
She shines light into the darkness and she isn't afraid.
She reaches for the hand of the one that feels pain to draw her out of the shadows and says,
I hear you and I am here for you.
The one that feels fear moves into the tenderness of the other to be replenished and to be guided into a more steadying force.
The calm one flows through her entire being with a slow gentle breath,
Each cell absorbing her love and compassion.
For this is what the anger seeks to be acknowledged so she can dampen the fire.
Together they breathe,
United in quietening their minds and nourishing their souls as the raging fire dwindles into gently glowing embers.
As both light and dark breathe together they know intuitively they can't have one without the other.
So they continue to breathe softly and deeply,
Rising and falling,
Rising and falling.
When the fire rages let the light of the calm one shine brighter in the wisdom that she has the power to put the fire out.
Trust in her.
Trust in calm over fear.
Resting here.
Your breath moving effortlessly in and out.
Find peace within your breath and awaken the calm one.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
