Psalm 45,

A song of love,

Speaks to us through the ages with its rich tapestry of imagery and profound spiritual truths.

In this contemplation,

We find a celebration of divine love,

The beauty of the divine presence and the promise of eternal joy.

As we meditate on each verse,

Let us open our hearts to the timeless wisdom and comfort it offers,

Drawing us closer to a deep,

Abiding peace and trust in our relationship with ourselves and with the divine.

Psalm 45,

My heart is overflowing with a good theme.

I recite my composition concerning the King.

My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

You are fairer than the sons of men.

Grace is poured upon your lips.

Therefore God has blessed you forever.

Guard your sword upon your thigh,

O mighty one,

With your glory and your majesty.

And in your majesty,

Ride prosperously because of truth,

Humility,

And righteousness.

And your right hand shall teach you awesome things.

Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies.

The people fall under you.

Your throne,

O God,

Is forever and ever.

A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.

You love righteousness and hate wickedness.

Therefore God,

Your God has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.

All your garments are centered with myrrh and aloes and cassia,

Out of the ivory palaces by which they have made you glad.

King's daughters are among your honorable women.

At your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.

Listen,

O daughter,

Consider and incline your ear.

Forget your own people also and your father's house.

So the king will greatly desire your beauty because he is your lord.

Worship him.

And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift.

The rich among the people will seek your favor.

The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace.

Her clothing is woven with gold.

She shall be brought to the king in robes of many colors.

The virgins,

Her companions who follow her,

Shall be brought to you.

With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought.

They shall enter the king's palace.

Instead of your fathers shall be your sons,

Whom you shall make princes in all the earth.

I will make your name to be remembered in all generations.

Therefore,

The people shall praise you forever and ever.

My heart is overflowing with a good theme.

I recite my composition concerning the king.

My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

As we begin our meditation,

Let us reflect on the overflowing joy and gratitude that fills the psalmist's heart.

Imagine your heart as a wellspring of divine love and inspiration,

Ready to express itself.

In our daily lives,

Let us strive to be like the ready writer,

Allying our words and actions to be guided by love and truth.

When we align our hearts with the divine theme of goodness,

We become vessels of light and positivity in the world.

Verse 2 You are fairer than the sons of men.

Grace is poured upon your lips.

Therefore,

God has blessed you forever.

Consider the beauty and grace that emanates from the divine.

This verse reminds us of the inherent beauty in all of creation and in ourselves.

Take a moment to recognize the grace that surrounds you and flows through you.

By acknowledging this grace,

We cultivate a sense of peace and gratitude.

Embrace the blessings that come from living in harmony with this divine grace,

Knowing that you are eternally loved and blessed.

Verse 3 Lord,

You are sewed upon your thigh,

O mighty one,

With your glory and your majesty.

Visualize the divine as a mighty and majestic presence,

Ready to protect and guide you.

This imagery of a warrior prepared for battle symbolizes strength and courage.

In our own lives,

We can draw upon this divine strength to face challenges with confidence and resilience.

Trust that the glory and majesty of the divine are always with you,

Providing the support you need to overcome any obstacle.

Verse 4 And in your majesty write prosperously because of truth,

Humility,

And righteousness,

And your right hand shall teach you awesome things.

Reflect on the qualities of truth,

Humility,

And righteousness.

These are the virtues that lead to a prosperous and fulfilling life.

As we embody these qualities,

We open ourselves to divine wisdom and guidance.

Allow your right hand,

Symbolic of action and intention,

To be taught by the divine.

Embrace the journey of learning and growing,

Knowing that each step is guided by a higher wisdom.

Verse 5 Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies.

The people's fall under you.

Envision the divine's power to overcome all negativity and adversity.

The sharp arrows represent precision and effectiveness in dispelling darkness.

In our daily struggles,

Trust that the divine presence within us can pierce true challenges and fears.

Let us surrender our worries,

Knowing that divine protection surrounds us,

Ensuring that we emerge victorious over any form of negativity.

Verse 6 Your throne,

O God,

Is forever and ever.

A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.

The eternal nature of the divine's rule.

The throne represents stability and permanence,

While the scepter symbolizes righteous authority.

In our lives,

We can find comfort in the unchanging nature of divine love and justice.

No matter how turbulent life may seem,

The foundation of divine righteousness remains steadfast.

Anchor yourself in this truth,

Finding peace in the everlasting presence of the divine.

Verse 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness.

Therefore,

God,

Your God,

Has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.

The anointing with the oil of gladness,

A symbol of joy,

Blessing,

And divine favour.

As we align ourselves with righteousness and reject negativity,

We too are anointed with divine joy.

Embrace this gladness,

Allowing it to fill your heart and radiate outward.

Becoming a beacon of light and happiness in the world.

Verse 8 All your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia,

Out of the ivory palaces by which they have made you glad.

Imagine the rich fragrances and the beauty of the ivory palaces.

These sensory details invite us to appreciate the beauty and abundance that the divine provides.

In our own lives,

Let us seek out and savour the small beautiful moments,

Whether it's the scent of flowers,

The warmth of sunlight,

Or the sound of laughter.

These are reminders of divine presence and joy in our everyday existence.

Verse 9 King's daughters are among your honourable women.

At your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.

Visualise yourself standing in a place of honour,

Adorned with divine blessings.

This verse speaks to our inherent worth and the special place we hold in the divine order.

Recognise your own value and the unique gifts you bring to the world.

Stand confidently in your divine heritage,

Knowing that you are precious and honoured in the eyes of the divine.

Verse 10 Listen,

O daughter,

Consider and incline your ear.

Forget your own people also and your father's house.

This call to listen and consider invites us to a deeper level of introspection and surrender.

Sometimes we must let go of past attachments and old ways of thinking to fully embrace our divine purpose.

Trust in the guidance of the divine.

Let go of what no longer serves you.

Open your heart to new possibilities and directions.

Verse 11 So the king will greatly desire your beauty because he is your lord.

Worship him.

Reflect on the beauty that the divine sees in you.

This verse is a reminder that you are deeply loved and cherished.

In recognising this love,

Let us respond with devotion and worship.

Cultivate a heart of gratitude and reverence,

Knowing that your beauty and worth are celebrated by the divine.

Verse 12 And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift.

The rich among the people will seek your favour.

Envision the abundance and generosity that flows into your life.

As you align with your divine purpose,

Blessings come to you in various forms.

Be open to receiving these gifts and also to sharing your own gifts with others.

This reciprocal flow of giving and receiving enriches our lives and deepens our connections with one another.

Verse 13 The royal daughter is all-glorious within the palace.

Her clothing is woven with gold.

Imagine yourself clothed in garments of gold,

Symbolising your divine worth and glory.

Recognise the inner beauty and strength that you possess.

Let this awareness fill you with a confidence and a sense of divine dignity.

Carry this inner glory with you.

Let it shine true in all that you do.

Verse 14 She shall be brought to the king in robes of many colours.

The virgins,

Her companions who follow her,

Shall be brought to you.

A procession of joy and celebration as you are brought into the presence of the divine.

The robes of many colours representing the diversity and richness of your experiences and gifts.

Celebrate the journey that brought you here.

Embrace the community of companions who support and uplift you.

Verse 15 With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought.

They shall enter the king's palace.

Feel the joy and gladness of entering the divine presence.

This is a moment of profound connection and fulfilment.

Let this sense of rejoicing fill your heart knowing that you are always welcome in the divine palace.

Carry this joy with you.

Let it inspire and uplift you in all aspects of your life.

Verse 16 Instead of your fathers shall be your sons,

Whom you shall make princes in all the earth.

Consider the legacy you are creating.

Your actions and choices pave the way for future generations.

By living in alignment with divine principles,

You contribute to a legacy of goodness and righteousness.

Reflect on the positive impact you can have on the world,

Nurturing and guiding those who come after you.

Verse 17 I will make your name to be remembered in all generations.

Therefore,

The people shall praise you forever and ever.

Contemplate the enduring nature of divine love and the lasting impact of a life lived in harmony with divine will.

Your actions,

Rooted in love and righteousness,

Create a ripple effect that touches countless lives.

Let this awareness inspire you to live with purpose and integrity,

Knowing that your legacy of love will be remembered and celebrated.

As we conclude this meditation,

Let us carry the peace,

Comfort and trust we have found into our daily lives.

May the words of this psalm continue to inspire and uplift us,

Guiding us to live with grace,

Joy and divine purpose.

Divine source of all beauty and grace,

Fill our hearts with your overflowing love.

Guide our words and actions to reflect your truth.

Grant us the strength and courage to face life's challenges and the wisdom to walk in righteousness.

May we always feel your presence and protection,

Embracing the joy and blessings you bestow upon us.

Let us live in harmony with your eternal light,

Creating a legacy of love and goodness.

Amen.

An affirmation.

I am a vessel of divine love and light.

I embrace my worth and beauty,

Knowing I am cherished by the divine.

I walk in truth,

Humility and righteousness,

Creating a positive impact on the world around me.

I am eternally blessed and protected,

Guided by divine wisdom.

With joy and gratitude,

I celebrate the divine presence within and around me.

Carry this meditation with you.

Allow it to nourish your spirit and bring you peace and comfort.

Amen.
