Hi and welcome to this guided meditation.
My name is Leslie and I will be your guide to these minutes of relaxation.
To start the meditation,
Move into a comfortable position.
This can be either sitting or sleeping.
If sitting on the floor,
You can sit cross-legged.
If using a chair,
Sit with your feet flat on the ground.
Keep your back upright,
Hands on your knees facing outward and head slightly tilted upward.
If sleeping,
Sleep flat on your back without a pillow,
Your arms to your sides,
Palms facing upwards.
Keep your eyes closed with a gentle focus between your eyebrows.
So let's focus on our breathing and start taking deep breaths.
Breathe in through your nose and let the air fill your lungs.
And then breathe out through your nose.
As we go through this meditation,
We will keep taking these deep relaxing breaths.
And if you find yourself lost,
Then bring back your focus to my voice and keep taking deep relaxing breaths.
This meditation is focused on surrender.
We live our lives in the illusion that we can control everything.
That everything is under our control.
And when we start to lose control of things,
We set ourselves up for disappointment.
In reality,
We don't have control of anything around us.
We cannot control the sunrise.
We cannot control how the sun sets.
We cannot control how it rains or which path the birds fly in.
We cannot control how people around us feel.
And we cannot control how they behave,
What they do,
Or what they say.
The only thing we are in control of is ourselves.
So knowing this truth,
Let us surrender.
Surrender to nature.
Surrender to life.
Surrender to the possibilities life offers us.
Surrender to the splendor of the sunrise.
And to the beauty of the sunset.
And with this surrender,
We let our appreciation grow.
Appreciation of people for who they are.
Appreciation for the food that nourishes us.
Appreciation for nature that provides the conditions to sustain our life.
And as we take a final deep breath on this meditation,
Let us reflect on surrendering ourselves to creation.
Surrendering ourselves to all that it has to offer.
So let us surrender.
And in that surrender,
May we find peace.
