Through this guided visual/imagery meditation, we explore our minds and emotions as different rooms. By allowing ourselves to feel positive emotions and bring positive memories to mind, we bring ourselves into a place of happiness, contentment and love.

Today,

We are practicing the control we have over our thoughts.

First,

Bringing our thoughts to our breath.

Breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.

Our attention comes to our nose,

Feeling our breath flow in and out of the nostrils.

Following the flow of the breath,

Feeling it rush in through the nostrils and up toward the brain.

Imagining the wind of our breath traveling around the brain.

Our breath is a strong moving wind,

Like the wind just before a storm blows in.

This kind of wind can blow over trees and make loud rushing sounds as it blows around a big sturdy house.

But inside the house,

It is calm.

The type of calm we can find inside our minds in this moment.

Imagining our mind as this big sturdy house,

Protecting us from strong winds and dangers in the outside world.

Imagine this big house with lots of rooms.

There is a room for happiness,

A room for sadness,

A room for boredom,

A room for contentment,

A room for love,

And a room for indifference,

A room for every emotion.

Memories,

Moments,

And sensations that cultivate the emotion decorate each room.

However,

The whole house is dark and we are unable to see these rooms,

Unable to see these decorations,

Until we bring our attention,

Our glowing orb of light,

To these rooms.

Although there may be times to visit the rooms of sadness,

Boredom,

Or indifference,

Today we are choosing not to visit those places in our minds.

Instead we guide our orb of light into the room of happiness.

The room lights up and we see our smiling face in a mirror,

Noticing how a simple smile can improve our mood.

Next,

Looking over at a picture.

This picture is a snapshot of the last time you laughed.

Where was this picture taken?

Who,

If anyone,

Was with you?

What was said or done that made you laugh?

Picturing this snapshot in your mind now.

Once we are ready to move along,

We guide our light down the hall and into our room of contentment.

As our orb illuminates this room,

We begin to take inventory of how our body feels.

Listening,

Smelling,

And feeling all that there is in this moment.

Allowing ourselves to sense peace and satisfaction here in this moment while our attention,

Our light,

Is in our room of content.

When we're ready,

Our orb of light follows our direction into the room of love.

This room is warm and comforting,

Like a hug from someone we care for deeply.

And as the room lights up,

We see the walls are covered floor to ceiling with pictures of family members and friends.

We take a moment to see the faces of our loved ones in our minds now.

As we walk around our room of love,

We pass by a window and we hear the wind whistling by and it reminds us to return our attention back to our breath,

Listening to our body's inhale and exhale.

When we're ready,

Opening our eyes slowly,

Maybe rolling around our wrists or ankles or reaching our arms up above head for a full body stretch.

And then continuing with the rest of our day,

Holding on to happiness,

Contentment,

And love.
