This guided meditation is going to help you become more mindful and strengthen your willpower.
So find yourself comfortable lying or seated wherever you are.
Just take a few breaths to really draw in your attention.
And draw out anything that's holding you back right now.
Breathe in through the nose and out through the nose.
If you need to sigh it out,
Feel free to.
Letting the shoulders soften.
Breathe in through the nose.
And out through the nose.
Notice that your body is comfortable wherever you are.
And if it's not,
Make any adjustments now.
So wherever you are,
Close your eyes if they're not already.
And imagine a beautiful,
Safe space.
Notice the temperature.
The energy of the room.
Any movements around you,
Any sounds.
And then draw your attention inwards to your body.
And your breath.
If you find that your mind wanders outside of your body and within or outside this room,
Then just always come back to the breath with minimal effort.
Don't get frustrated with yourself.
Just breathe and let it all go.
So find yourself now noticing your willpower and mind power.
How would you rate your current state?
Ten being really focused,
Able to really take charge of all of your decisions,
Such as whether you're hungry or not.
Perhaps you're just bored.
I don't like to say the D word,
But are you dieting or taking on any fads at the moment?
And all well and good if you are.
But is it sustainable?
Not drawing yourself into that thought too much.
But if you're feeling a little weak in your willingness to perhaps look after your health a little better,
Then a lot of us these days overeat and overindulge.
So this is a great meditation to listen to leading up to an event or the weekend if that's your indulging days.
And take note of how you can choose.
Sometimes you get sucked into certain choices.
You get offered something and you don't want to turn this person down.
But it's time you start listening to your body,
What it needs,
Not what your mind or heart wants.
Perhaps your heart wants to make this person happy and think,
Oh,
Okay,
Just this once or just one more time,
Whatever it might be,
Whether it's food,
Some other form of,
I wouldn't say addiction,
But something of sorts like that.
So a little mind game here.
This is going to show you how strong your mind is at creating things in your mind.
So you're lying here in this meditation.
But imagine your body and it gets up from where it is.
Perhaps you're in a home or a house or some sort.
And there's a kitchen in this place.
And you head to the counter,
Taking your time strolling along until you meet this counter with a bowl of fresh fruit.
Anything that comes to mind,
Place them in that bowl with your imagination,
Including lemons.
Lemons,
You might wonder.
Well,
Perhaps you'd like a fresh glass of lemon water.
So you grab a glass from the cupboard and you pour it up with filtered,
Clear,
Beautiful drinking water.
But pure water isn't quite what you feel like.
You want to add a dash of fresh lemon juice.
So you walk back to that cup if you've left it on the counter.
And you grab your lemon and just slice a piece of lemon.
Before squeezing it into your cup,
You'd have that temptation to randomly lick the lemon,
Just to test your taste buds.
So you bring the lemon to your tongue and you lick it.
Are your saliva glands drooling?
Do you need to swallow?
This is the mind,
Not the body's fault.
Can you see how powerful your imagination is just with an imaginary lemon?
And thinking about licking it can make your mouth water with the sour and perhaps sweetness.
So you continue to make your lemon water and you squeeze the lemon into it.
And you place the lemon back where it was,
Ready to be used for your next glass.
And with your freshly squeezed lemon juice in your cup,
You drink it as though you're very thirsty.
This powerful hint of sourness and sweetness does the trick to satisfy your thirst.
And you pop your cup down and wander back in your imagination into your meditative seat or laying down pose.
Can you find yourself resting here?
Now did this affect or change your mind of how powerful your thoughts can become your life?
So next time when you think you're hungry and you go straight to the fridge or the pantry or the fruit bowl,
Ask yourself,
Am I hungry or am I thirsty or am I just bored?
All of these matter.
So the first thing you should do before indulging on anything is take a few breaths,
Which is what we'll do now.
Emptying out your lungs and then drawing the breath in through the nose and releasing.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhaling awareness then,
Am I hungry or thirsty?
And our next option is to opt for the water,
Whether it's just fresh drinking water,
Maybe lemon infused water.
And once you've had a large glass of water,
Preferably room temperature if you can,
And you'll understand this if you learnt or know much about Ayurveda.
So once you've taken that drink,
Maybe take another breath or two and ask yourself,
Am I actually still hungry?
And if you haven't eaten your breakfast,
Lunch or dinner yet,
Perhaps you are hungry.
This meditation is ideal for those who find themselves snacking throughout the day,
Often because we're bored,
Don't know what to do or we haven't drank enough water throughout the day.
So fill your bellies up with pure water,
Maybe scented with some fresh lemon juice.
And listen to your body.
It knows best.
Thank you so much for joining me here.
Namaste.
