The Sacred Power Of Trust
by Lauri Albert
Trust is instinctual within us. Why, then, does it seem so difficult sometimes to trust anything? My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
Today I want to talk about trust.
Trust is an instinctual thing inside of us.
And David G.
In his book Sacred Powers talks about how trust is actually a sacred power.
It's within us.
It's inherent within us.
And he goes into this whole thing in his book Sacred Power.
And I wanted to read it to you because it is so powerful.
So I've got to get my glasses on,
Of course.
Okay,
So this is what he says about trust being a sacred power.
Trust is a sacred power.
It requires no convincing.
Trust is having a firm belief that whatever is flowing through you flows through everything.
It has been flowing through the cosmos for billions of years and will continue to flow for all eternity.
Trust is deeply embedded at your very core.
You can't think your way into trust.
You can't intellectualize it.
Trust only ripens when you are ready.
How amazing is that?
And he talks about the one thing that keeps us from trusting.
And that is fear.
It's so interesting because I feel like I go through these themes.
Spirit wants me to focus on certain things for whatever period of time.
And it's like lately I've been drawn to things that teach me how to trust and how to not have fear.
And it's amazing,
You know,
When we consider what fear holds in us.
It can keep us from trusting.
It can keep us from love.
It can keep us from everything,
Right?
But when we surrender our hearts,
When we surrender our hearts,
Trust becomes that sacred power just as David G.
Lays out,
You know?
And I feel like that I get,
I don't know about you guys,
But I get close to trusting,
Like fully trusting.
I mean,
There's situations and people that I trust with my life.
Like my husband,
Of course.
I trust him with my life.
I trust my sister with my life.
I trust my besties with my life.
But really when we're out doing whatever in our lives,
Do we trust that spirit has our back?
Do we trust that,
Like,
You know,
That,
Do we trust that the,
I don't even know why this example is coming up,
But do we trust the person standing next to us in line?
Do you know what I mean?
Like,
Do we trust that we are doing what we're supposed to do in our lives?
Do we trust that the guy driving next to us isn't going to swerve into our lane?
Like where does the trust lie in within us?
Right?
That's like my,
My big sort of inquiry lately,
You know?
Very interesting.
It's such a fantastic way to learn about yourself and where you need to grow.
You know,
I mean for me anyway,
That's where I,
I love taking on these topics in my own head so that I can know where to go.
And David Gee's book,
Just like I was just drawn to those pages,
You know,
Sometimes when I'm in a place where I'm like,
Okay,
What do you want me to,
What do you want me to read or learn today?
Right?
And I'll just open the book and,
And I'll know,
I'll trust.
See it's so funny because I feel like that I trust sometimes spirit more than I trust like humans and the world and that sort of thing.
Isn't that funny?
The things that we trust in our lives and the things that we don't.
Right?
It's very,
It's,
It's so fascinating.
We as humans are complicated people.
We're complicated individuals,
You know?
But it's about getting rid of the fear.
It's about being fearless.
Again,
I'm learning this like daily,
You know,
I mean yesterday I was hitting this deadline right for something and I was like,
Okay,
Let's just move forward,
You know,
And fear just got,
It gripped me because I have this thing about doing things correctly and doing things right and on time and I,
And I missed this deadline,
You know,
But I got to feel like,
And,
And it's funny because I'm kind of talking it through as I'm talking to you guys,
But maybe there was a reason,
Maybe spirit had yesterday be as convoluted as it was that I needed to take a step back and breathe.
You know,
Again,
I don't know,
But I feel like I have to trust.
So trust,
It is a sacred power.
That's like the bottom line.
If we trust spirit,
We should just believe that it's all going to work out.
Everything in our lives with no fear,
No fear.
Right?
So that's what we're going to meditate on today.
And we are going to,
We're going to sit in the stillness,
Right?
Not gonna have you guys chant or anything today.
We're going to sit in this stillness.
And what we're going to do is we're going to pay attention to our heart.
We're going to listen to our hearts.
Right?
We're going to listen to what our heart has to tell us.
Right?
Oh,
That sounds divine.
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
So let's get comfortable and you can close your eyes whenever you feel like it's right for you.
Let's take a nice deep breath in and release.
Ah,
Love that.
Love love that.
So what are you grateful for today?
What are you grateful for in your life?
What is it that's going really great in your life that you are just so grateful about?
And that they,
It's endless or it can be endless.
Right?
But here's the next question.
What is an intention that we can take on for ourselves today?
Let's create an intention for our world today.
It could be anything from being kind,
Kinder today.
The intention could be to trust more or the intention could be simply to be fearless.
Perfect.
So now what we're going to do sit in the stillness and the mantra that I want us to use today in order to connect us a little bit closer with spirit is OM.
And you say it to yourself while you're concentrating on your breath and try if you can to just mentally push the other thoughts away.
So we're going to try to push our thoughts away and concentrate on our breath and our connection to spirit with OM.
So I will keep the time and let's begin.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
OM.
Let's start to bring our awareness back to our bodies.
You can release the mantra at home.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
Beautiful.
You can open your eyes whenever you feel comfortable.
And I know it's difficult sometimes to sort of gently swat away the thoughts that come in.
But when you can,
And honestly,
I've been meditating a long time and I still have a lot of thoughts that come in,
So you should never make yourself wrong.
Never make yourself wrong for when you have thoughts during meditation.
So what we do is we just sort of gently push them away and move on.
And trust.
So thank you so much for joining today.
From my heart to yours,
Namaste.
