Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short,
Yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
One question that I get so often about meditation,
That is,
Is how to take it to a deeper level.
And what I mean by that is maybe they don't feel like they're actually able to relax their minds or clear their thoughts.
And honestly,
We all do that.
It happens.
I've been meditating for,
I believe I was thinking back the other day,
Like 22 years.
I still have those days of thoughts.
And what I just do is I gently just,
In my mind's eye,
I just gently go like that and it takes them away.
I just gently push them away.
It happens to everybody.
However,
I thought that today I would take this and add a layer to maybe help to deepen your meditation experience.
I try to keep it very basic for us in terms of this particular circumstance because I want people just to meditate.
It doesn't matter about,
You know,
I don't usually care about hand mudras or sitting properly or that sort of thing.
However,
Today I want to talk about hand mudras.
Okay.
Because certain ones,
There's so many,
There's more than you can count different hand mudras that you can do,
Right?
Tons and tons,
Right?
But what I want to talk about,
I want to show you a couple of them that might actually deepen your experience.
Okay.
And once you actually understand why you do what you do with your fingers in your hands,
It could really make a difference to you.
And to some it may not even.
So there you go.
Okay.
So the first hand mudra that I want to talk about is the Gyan Mudra.
Okay.
It's when,
And you've probably,
Everybody has probably seen this,
Right?
So we've got the index finger and the thumb,
And this is where the tips of the finger touch.
Okay.
This helps to maintain focus and connection.
Okay.
Because this is the cool part,
Right?
And I love this symbolism.
Your thumb represents the universe.
This is just one school of thought,
Right?
Your thumb represents the universe and your index finger represents your soul,
Your spirit,
Your being,
Right?
So when we put those two together,
When we put our own spirit soul with the universe,
We are then one with the universe.
So you put your index finger and your thumb together at the tip and you put them,
You know,
Palms up on your lap.
And it may feel weird.
Here's a funny thing,
Right?
It may feel weird to put them on your,
Put them on your lap and hold it there.
Like for the longest time,
It was odd for me to hold it there.
But for some reason,
The longer you sit and I,
This is very strange.
I get it.
But the longer you sit,
The more your fingers just naturally sit there.
So you don't have to concentrate it on it too long.
So there you go.
Yeah.
Okay.
So another Muja for help in having a profound concentration,
Okay,
Is the Dhyana.
All right.
And this is when your hands are facing upwards,
Your palms,
Your hands,
Your hands,
Your palms,
Your palms are facing upward,
Resting on top of each other.
The way this works is your right hand,
Okay,
So your palms are facing upwards,
Your right hand rests on top of your left hand like this.
And your,
The tops,
The tips,
What am I saying?
The tips of your thumbs touch.
Okay.
This Muja allows the concentration to relax you and it really helps with inner peace.
Right.
So we can really facilitate that.
Okay.
Then the last one is the Ganesha Muja.
Now we know about Ganesha,
Right?
Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and like helps us build our courage.
So this one,
And this one is a little bit more difficult,
But it's not difficult.
I mean,
Is it really difficult?
No,
But you know what I mean.
Okay.
So what we're going to do is this is how you do this one.
You put your hands in prayer pose together in front of you,
And then you twist your hands apart.
Okay.
Like clockwise so that your fingers,
Your arms are up and your fingers are pointing to each side.
So your right arm,
The fingers are pointing to the left,
Your left arm,
Your fingers are pointing to the right.
Your left hand is facing you and your right hand is facing out.
Okay.
So then what you do is you bend your fingers and clasp your fingers.
So your right palm,
Your right palm is facing your body.
Okay.
So then you just hold that with your right palm facing your body.
You hold that with you like,
And you just,
And that's how you sit.
So we're going to try these today.
The Gyan,
The Dhyana or the Ganesha mudra.
Okay.
Your choice,
Whichever kind of rung true for you,
Rung true for you,
Whatever feels right for you.
Okay.
And what we're going to do is we're going to sit in the stillness.
And we're going to concentrate on our breath.
So I want you to be able to concentrate on your breath and in doing so you can have your breath be a little bit rhythmic.
Now you can start out by maybe counting.
So you could go breathe in two,
Three,
Four,
And out two,
Three,
Four.
Now you could do that,
But what I want you to try to stay away from the actual counting in your head.
Okay.
While we're doing this.
Okay.
So,
So if you've chosen your hand mudra,
This one is one of my favorites,
The Gyan where the index finger and the thumb touch.
That one just speaks to me,
But the other ones are absolutely amazing as well.
So choose your hand mudra.
Put your,
Let's get ourselves comfortable.
Perfect.
Close your eyes whenever it feels right for you.
And let's take a nice deep breath in and release.
Perfect.
So we want to start relaxing our body,
Relaxing our minds.
No mantra today.
We're focusing on our breath.
So we'll breathe in and out.
In and out.
Breathe in and out.
I will keep the time.
And let's begin.
Becomes easy.
Bping,
Bing!
You you Let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies Take one last deep breath in And release You can open your eyes whenever you feel comfortable Can open your eyes whenever you feel comfortable namaste
