The daily grind creates tension and tightness in our bodies we are often unaware of. This short meditation helps us come into presence and notice the spaciousness that exists within the body and allows us to expand the felt sense of open awareness.

Begin by closing your eyes or softening your gaze.

Taking a few deep breaths as you settle into your being sitting here on the your cushion or on your chair.

Giving yourself permission to let go of the details of the outside world.

Any items on your to-do list left undone.

As you invite yourself into this moment,

Into being in the here and now.

Taking a moment to notice your breathing.

Allow your awareness to simply witness the natural rhythm of the inhale and exhale.

Not needing it to be different.

Not needing to change it or force it in any way.

But simply witnessing the changing experience of the inhale and exhale of each breath into the next.

Taking a moment to notice your body sitting here upright and dignified.

Again not needing to do anything different.

Not needing to be perfect or to change anything.

Because in this moment simply being is all the perfection that we need.

Seeing the support pushing up from below you through the seat that you're sitting on,

Through the floor beneath you and through the earth beneath that.

Helping hold you upright as you give your muscles permission to relax around this upright posture.

Letting go of all that we try to hold.

Letting go of what our personality wants us to be.

What our efforts strive for us each day.

Letting go into just being.

Awareness itself.

Notice the freedom of being this witness.

Not needing to do or change or be any one thing.

Imagine this spaciousness.

Your body and mind can encompass when simply being aware.

If it helps you can visualize an open sky or the wide expanse of an ocean only touched by sunlight and gentle breezes.

Putting ourselves up into that spaciousness.

Allowing our heart to open.

Allowing our mind to widen.

Noticing the boundary between self and other begin to dissolve.

As you allow yourself to simply be.

One with every one around you.

One with every being around you.

One with everything around you.

Everything one.

Deepening your breath ever so slightly.

As you fold yourself back in.

Coming back to this moment.

Coming back to the room.

Feeling free to move your body in any way that feels comfortable.

As you re-inhabit who you are.

As you are about to embark upon your day.

Trusting that whatever spaciousness that you noticed in this practice can stay with you as you journey on throughout the day.

Taking a few more deep breaths in and out.

And when you're ready,

Opening up your eyes.
