Hi there,
Welcome.
Let's take a moment to connect with our inner child,
The younger version of ourselves who still resides within us.
So to begin,
Go ahead and sit comfortably.
Try to keep your spine up straight.
Avoid being too tight,
Mostly just upright and alert and still relaxed.
Gently allow your eyes to close and go ahead and take a deep breath in through your nose.
Hold it for a moment and exhale gently,
Slowly through your mouth.
Go ahead and do this three times.
Now go ahead and allow your breath to resume its natural rhythm.
Imagine yourself walking down a peaceful path.
It could be a forest trail,
A beach in the sunset.
Maybe it's somewhere you've been before.
Maybe it's somewhere completely different.
Any place that feels safe and calm to you.
As you're walking,
Looking around,
You notice a small child sitting nearby.
This child,
This child is you.
This is you at an age when you may have needed comfort or reassurance.
Take a moment to notice how this child looks.
What are they doing?
How do they feel?
Now gently approach your inner child.
Sit beside them and just let them know that you're here for them.
No need to rush anything.
You're just sitting next to the child saying,
I'm here.
I'm here for you.
And if it feels right,
Go ahead and ask them what it is they need from you today.
Listen to their response,
Whether it's their words,
Emotions,
Or just a sense of knowing.
And now offer your inner child unconditional love.
You could say something like,
I love you just as you are.
You are safe.
I'm here to protect you.
I'm here to take care of you.
You are enough.
You always have been.
I love you just as you are.
You are safe.
I'm here to protect you.
I'm here to take care of you now.
You are enough.
You always have been.
If it feels right,
Reach out and give the child a hug or hold their hand.
Notice the connection between you.
It's as though love and warmth is flowing from your heart to theirs.
Keep repeating any words of assurance that you feel your inner child needs right now,
Whether it be the ones we used before or something new,
Or through touch,
Through a hug,
Through holding the child's hand in your own special,
Unique way.
Let them know that you love them no matter what.
When you're ready,
Let your inner child know that you'll always be there for them.
And notice how they respond,
Knowing that you are genuinely there for them and that they are deeply cared for.
Go ahead and sit with them a moment longer,
Perhaps gazing at the calm,
Safe scene around you,
Enjoying this time together,
Enjoying this peaceful moment.
Notice how your heart feels,
How your mind,
Your whole body feels.
Maybe it feels nice,
Warm and soothing.
Maybe it's a little uncomfortable.
It's something you haven't really done before,
Something you're not really used to,
And that's okay.
Every step,
Everything we do to cultivate this unconditional love toward our inner child,
It really does make a difference.
Hold to it.
Allow this love to penetrate within you,
Knowing that just as you have said these things to this child,
You're saying it to yourself.
You're offering yourself this love,
And that's a magnificent gift.
Hold it.
Cherish it.
Let it become a part of you.
Allow this image of the path of the child to melt into the background and bring your attention to your breath,
To how you're feeling physically now,
Bringing yourself back into this current space in this current moment,
Gently wiggling your fingers,
Your toes,
And when you're ready,
Go ahead and open your eyes.
Feel free to carry this sense of love and connection with you as you move through your day.
Thank you for taking this time to care for yourself.
Wishing you peace and love.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
