Let's begin by getting in a comfortable position,
Seated if you like,
But this is a meditation that you could do standing or lying down or any position that allows you to have an open line of communication with each part of your body.
Today we're going to be asking and we're going to be listening and we're going to be very open to the messages that our body has to give us.
Let's begin by taking three long slow deep breaths in together.
Allow each breath to ground you and center you and bring you fully present and conscious into your body.
Imagine that each breath creates a pathway between your heart and mind in every cell of your body.
Imagine that every cell in your body has a voice and that you have the ability to hear it.
Begin with our first long slow deep breath in and release a second long slow deep breath in and release and the third magical long slow deep breath in and release.
Start by sending a general message of love and gratitude and appreciation to your body as a whole.
Say thank you.
Thank you for carrying me through my days.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for doing your best to be an amazing vessel for this earthly journey.
Bring your attention to your feet.
Ask the question what messages do you have for me?
I'm listening.
I'm curious and I care and just relax and allow.
Messages may come to you in the form of sensations that you notice.
You might even hear words.
Your feet might say thank you for the massage yesterday or can we please be barefoot a while today?
I would love to feel the earth and grass.
Your amazing feet that carry you everywhere you want to go can speak to you in infinite ways.
Now bring your attention to your ankles.
Hello ankles.
What do you have to say?
What messages do you want me to hear today?
Now bring your attention to your calves.
It may seem like different parts of your body have less complexity,
Less engagement,
Less activity.
So maybe your calves with no moving parts don't have too much to say but maybe they do and honoring your body we don't want to leave out any part.
Now move on to your knees.
What messages could your knees have for you?
Do they have information about the way you live your life?
How and where you stand?
What kind of exercise you do?
What kind of support and protection you provide for them?
What messages do your knees have for you?
Don't listen just for complaints.
Your body may be in a really good place and maybe feeling awesome and feeling grateful right back for the care that you give it.
Then maybe your knees say thank you.
Thank you for taking care of me.
Thank you for having nutrition that supports me and keeps me strong and flexible and lubricated.
Honest communication with every part of your body.
Now bring your attention to your thighs.
So strong,
So powerful,
So pivotal in keeping your body upright and moving through the world.
What do your thighs have to say?
Maybe your thighs would love to feel more stretches or would love to expend more energy.
You and your body are unique.
Your relationship is unique.
The messages from your body are unique to you.
There is no right or wrong.
Now bring your attention to your hips and buttocks,
Lower belly.
What information does this part of your body have for you?
Very often we carry emotion and anxiety and stress and tension in our hips.
What messages does this part of your body have for you?
Now bring your attention to your belly.
So much happens in this part of your body.
It's often said that your gut is your second brain and a healthy gut is vital to a healthy body.
And what does your belly have to say to you?
Listen for magical messages.
They might be literal.
They might be metaphorical.
They might be sensations.
Now think about your heart,
Your chest,
Your breasts.
What messages do you hear from your tender heart?
This amazing organ that distributes life force,
A form of blood and oxygen all through your body.
How does your heart feel?
What does your heart say?
Same with your lungs,
With your breasts.
Listen for the messages that this part of your body wants to send you.
Now your hands,
Your amazing miraculous hands.
What do they have to say to you?
Would they love more attention?
Maybe a massage?
Do the joints in your hands feel fluid or stiff?
What information do your hands want to give you?
Now your arms.
Include your wrists,
Your forearms,
Your elbows,
Your upper arms.
What information can be shared from this part of your body that will help you be a good partner,
A good friend to your body?
What do your arms want to say?
Now your shoulders and back.
Again this is a place where tension and stress and emotion often are felt and carried.
What do your shoulders and back have to say?
They feel strong,
They feel flexible,
They feel relaxed.
Listen with your heart and mind and spirit to what your shoulders and back have to share with you.
Finally bring your attention to your neck and your head,
Your face,
Your eyes and lips and nose,
Your ears.
What messages do this part of your body want to share with you?
This is a wonderful meditation that you can do for longer on your own to really be in touch with your body,
To really let your body know that you're listening,
To give your body permission to share information in whatever way feels good to you.
For now let's just say a general thank you to your body.
Thank you for the messages,
Thank you for your service,
Thank you for being my best friend and partner.
Let's end today's meditation with three long slow deep breaths in together.
First breath in and release.
Second long slow deep breath in and release.
And the third magical long slow deep breath in and release.
Namaste.
