Good day and welcome to another guided meditation in the 12 step tradition.
Today we'll be taking the opportunity to practice loving kindness.
To share that loving kindness with those around us and to do so through some words of wisdom from those who have come before us in and out of the rooms.
In between each short meditation there will be a few sayings that you may have heard before from recovery and our tradition.
So let us begin by finding a calm place,
With a straight back,
Sitting or lying down.
As long as we're supported,
Our palms facing up,
Ready to receive grace.
As we breathe in,
We take in that grace and gratitude.
As we breathe out,
We let go,
Letting go of any tension that we have in our bodies,
Gently noticing if there's areas of tightness or frustration from our day or previous days.
As we breathe in,
We're filling up that space in our belly and our lungs,
Breathing in deeply.
And breathing out,
Letting go.
Let's begin by sending out some kindness to ourselves,
Practicing before we can send it out to others.
You can close your eyes or you can focus on something around you.
But let your true focus be breathing through this very simple prayer to yourself.
May I be well.
May I be happy.
May I be peaceful and serene.
May I be well.
May I be happy.
May I be peaceful and serene.
And a few words of wisdom.
Keep your first steps close at heart.
Do unto others so you would have done unto you.
And progress.
And perfection.
Let's go now to someone nearby us,
Someone that we are close to,
That we love,
Family member or a friend.
Let's send them loving kindness.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful and serene.
And a few words of wisdom.
Take what's useful and leave the rest.
Right now it's like this.
It's like it is.
And pain can be a touchstone for spiritual growth.
Let's move on to someone,
Perhaps an acquaintance,
Someone that we encounter fairly often but we don't have much contact with in depth.
Someone that we don't know very well but that we know could use this simple prayer.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful and at ease.
A few words of wisdom.
More will constantly be revealed.
Principles before personalities.
And count your blessings.
First things first.
Breathing deeply,
Thinking about those around us.
Perhaps someone with whom you struggle.
Someone with whom you said,
I should pray for them.
Maybe you've been annoyed or challenged by this person.
Breathing through this frustration,
Remembering to breathe deeply.
We will send loving kindness to them as well.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful and at ease.
A few words of wisdom.
May I be a part of the solution,
Not the problem.
It works if you work it.
And pay attention to similarities rather than our differences.
Now taking time to think about our community and the wider world around us.
The serenity that we've found,
That we've invested.
Let's see how far we can reach.
Making a prayer for all those that we can conceive of,
Those distant,
Those perhaps most in need.
As we say these words,
Taking time to reflect on the principles of the program.
And our 11th step promises.
May all be well.
May all be happy.
May all be peaceful and serene.
A refuge is a place of protection,
A place that we go.
This we go in times of need and shelter.
When the winds of change blow strong.
When the winds of adversity or trouble come to find us.
We try to be of service to others whenever possible using our time,
Our energy,
And our resources to help create positive change.
We are of service when the winds of difficulty find others.
Let us breathe through these winds,
Letting our breath be a prayer in and of itself to the good that we can pass on to others.
We will close this meditation with the sound of a bell.
Beomjune's May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful and find serenity.
Keep coming back.
It works if you work it.
