Before we begin,
Place one hand over your heart and take a breath as if you are returning to yourself.
Let yourself settle exactly where you are.
There's nothing to fix right now.
Nothing to prove.
And nowhere else you need to be.
Let the room hold the quiet around you.
Take a slow breath into your nose if that feels comfortable.
Let it leave through your mouth,
Soft and easy.
Again.
Breathing in gently and breathing out as if you are setting down a small bundle you have carried long enough.
Feel the weight of your body supported.
Your shoulders do not have to carry the whole world in this moment.
Your hands do not have to hold everything together.
Your mind.
Does not have to solve anything.
For the next little while.
You may simply be here.
Now imagine.
That the room is becoming softer around the edges.
Not disappearing.
Not going away.
Just becoming quieter.
The lights feel a little warmer.
The air.
Feels a little kinder.
Around you,
There is a gentle glow,
Like candlelight seen through frosted glass.
This glow does not ask anything of you.
It does not push.
It does not pull.
It simply reminds your body that you are safe enough to rest.
With your next breath.
Imagine a small lantern appearing in front of your heart.
It may be golden.
Silver.
Amber.
Or the color of sunrise.
It may look old and beautiful,
Like something passed down through generations.
It may look simple,
Like a little lamp in a window.
Inside this lantern is a flame that belongs only to you.
It is not loud.
It does not burn.
It is steady.
Patient and alive.
This is the light of your spirit.
The part of you that has walked through many seasons.
And still remains.
In your imagination.
See yourself standing at the beginning of a quiet path.
The path beneath you is made of soft earth.
It is smooth and easy to walk on.
Either side.
Tall grasses move gently in a breeze.
The air smells clean.
Like rain on warm soil.
Like leaves.
Like flowers that are opening after a long sleep.
You carry your lantern in one hand.
Its light falls over the path before you.
Not too far ahead.
Just enough to show the next steps.
That is all you need.
You do not need the whole road revealed.
Only the next step.
In the next.
Than the next.
As you walk.
The world becomes beautifully alive.
You hear birds in the distance,
Not sharp or loud,
But soft.
Like music coming from another garden.
You hear the whisper of leaves.
You hear your own breath,
Keeping pace with Earth.
With every step,
Something in you begins to loosen.
Old worries slip from your shoulders like dry leaves falling from a tree.
Thoughts that have been circling grow quieter.
The body remembers a simpler rhythm.
Breathe.
Step.
Receive.
Ahead of you.
You see an archway.
Made of living branches.
Vines weave over the top.
Tiny white flowers shine among the leaves like little stars.
The archway is not a gate you must earn.
It is a welcome.
As you come closer,
You notice a small sign carved into smooth wood.
The words are simple.
Enter gently.
All that is good in you.
Is welcome here.
Take a breath.
And allow yourself to pass beneath the arch.
On the other side is a garden unlike any ordinary garden.
It feels like a place from a storybook.
But also like somewhere you have known in your bones.
The light is late afternoon,
Golden and forgiving.
Everything it's touched with warmth.
There are roses along one stone wall.
Some wide open.
Some still in bud.
There are lavender bushes humming quietly with the bees.
There are herbs growing in clay pots.
Rosemary.
Mint.
Sage.
Their scents drift together in the air,
Familiar and comforting.
In the center of the garden is a wide path of pale stones.
Each stone seems to hold a little memory of sunlight.
As you walk across them,
You may notice that your steps feel lighter.
Your lantern grows brighter,
As if it recognizes this place.
You see a wooden bench beneath an old tree.
The tree is enormous,
With a trunk wide enough to hold many stories.
Its branches stretch outward like arms.
Its leaves shimmer softly,
Green with touches of gold.
This is the tree of remembering.
It does not remember only what happened.
It remembers who you are beneath what happened.
It remembers your strength.
Your humor.
Your kindness.
Your courage.
Your stubborn spark.
Your tenderness.
Your survival.
Your laughter.
Sit beneath this tree now.
In your imagination.
Feel the bench beneath you.
Feel the shade around you.
And feel the lantern resting safely in your lap.
From the branches above.
A single leaf loosens and floats down.
It lands gently in your open hand.
On this leaf is written a word.
A word your spirit needs today.
It may be peace.
It may be courage.
It may be rest.
It may be forgiveness.
It may be joy.
It may be enough.
Do not force the word.
Let it come like a whisper.
Let it be simple.
Hold that leaf to your heart.
Let the word move through you.
Not as something you must achieve.
But as something you are allowed to receive.
When you are ready.
Stand again.
And continue through the garden.
Path curves around beds of flowers.
Each one glowing.
With its own quiet color.
Some are red like a strong heart.
Some are yellow like morning.
Some are blue like calm water.
And some are purple like twilight.
At the far end of the garden,
You notice a small house.
It looks like it belongs in an old tale.
Stone walls.
A mossy roof.
Warm windows.
And a wooden door painted the color of deep green leaves.
Smoke rises gently from the chimney.
Carrying the scent of cedar.
And something sweet.
Perhaps cinnamon.
Perhaps vanilla.
Perhaps bread,
Just pulled from the oven.
The door opens before you knock.
Not suddenly,
But gently,
As if the house has been expecting you.
Inside is a room filled with golden light.
There is a fireplace with a calm fire.
There are shelves of books.
There are quilts folded over chairs.
There are photographs in silver frames.
Though you do not need to see the faces clearly.
You only need to feel the love that lives in them.
A table waits in the center of the room.
And on it is a cup of warm tea.
This tea is made from every good thing that has ever helped you keep going.
The kindness of someone who believed in you.
The laughter that arrived at the right time.
The animal who loved you.
The song.
You never forgot.
The hand that held yours.
The strength you found when no one else could see it.
Sit at the table.
Wrap your hands around the cup.
Feel the warmth.
Move into your palms.
You do not have to drink if you do not want to.
Just feel the warmth.
Let it remind your hands that they have done enough for today.
Across the table.
There is an empty chair.
In a moment.
You may imagine someone wise and loving sitting there.
This may be a beloved elder.
An ancestor.
A guide.
A friend.
A teacher.
A version of your own higher self,
Or simply a presence made of kindness.
If no one appears,
Let the chair remain filled with golden light.
That is enough.
This presence looks at you with complete gentleness.
Not pity.
Not judgment.
Gentleness.
The kind that sees everything and still says,
You are worthy of peace.
Let yourself receive that gaze.
You do not need to perform.
You do not need to explain your life.
You are simply seen with love.
Now notice the fireplace.
The flame is steady and beautiful.
Moving in shades of amber,
Rose,
And soft gold.
It makes no harsh sound.
It only crackles quietly.
Like a story being told slowly.
Your lantern begins to glow in answer.
The flame inside your lantern.
And the flame and the hearth seemed to know each other.
One is the light you carry.
One is the light that has always been waiting for you.
The loving presence across from you places one hand over their heart.
You may do the same if that feels comfortable.
In this quiet room,
You hear these words spoken not only to your ears,
But to the older places inside of you.
You have lived through many chapters.
Some were beautiful.
Some were heavy.
Some asked more from you than anyone knew.
But you are still here.
And your light is not small.
It has simply learned how to burn steady.
Let those words settle.
You do not have to believe them all at once.
Let them land where they can.
The presence continues.
You are allowed to rest without feeling guilty.
You are allowed to be cared for.
You are allowed to have moments that are not useful to anyone.
Moments that are just simply beautiful.
Your life is not measured only by what you have done for others.
Your life is also measured by the love that you have carried.
The wisdom that you have gathered,
And the light you still bring into a room.
Feel the warmth of the tea.
Feel the chair beneath you.
Feel the lantern near your heart.
Now the flame in the hearth shows you an image.
It may be a memory.
A place.
A face.
A symbol.
Or only a feeling.
Whatever comes,
Let it be gentle.
You are not searching for pain.
You are receiving medicine.
Perhaps you see yourself as a child.
Full of wonder.
Perhaps you see a place you loved.
Perhaps you see a garden.
An ocean.
Of Premier Street.
A beloved animal.
A hand reaching for yours.
Perhaps you see nothing at all and only feel warmth.
All of it is welcome.
Let the image bless you.
Then let it soften back into the fire.
The house now invites you to stand.
And follow a hallway you did not notice before.
The hallways lined with small lamps.
Each one glowing softly.
As he walked.
You realize each lamp holds one beautiful moment from your life.
Not only the grand moments.
Not only the ones other people would call important.
These are the quiet treasures.
Sunlight on a table.
My favorite meal.
Clean sheets.
A joke.
That made you laugh until you cried.
Music.
Coming from another room.
The smell of rain.
Flower blooming.
A child smiling.
A friend calling at exactly the right time.
Each lamp says this mattered too.
Walk slowly through the hall.
Let yourself notice a few lamps.
You do not have to open every memory.
Just let the warmth of them be near you.
At the end of the hall is a mirror.
Tall and framed carved wood.
This is not a mirror for judging the body.
This is not a mirror.
For looking for age.
Change or flock.
This is a soul mirror.
That shows the light behind the eyes.
Stand before it if that feels right.
See yourself surrounded by every season you have survived.
See the younger versions of you.
Standing behind you.
The child.
The young adult.
The parent or caretaker.
The worker.
The Dreamer.
The one who was brave.
The one who was tired.
The one who kept going.
One by one.
These versions of you.
Placed their hands over their hearts.
They are not asking you to go backwards.
They are thanking you for bringing them this far.
Look at yourself in the mirror and hear these words.
I am not only what I have lost.
I am also what I have loved.
I am not only what changed.
I am also what remained.
I am not only my years.
I am the light that lived through them.
Let your breath be easy.
Let your face soften.
Let the soul mirror show you the dignity.
Of your own becoming.
When you are ready,
The house opens yet another door.
And you step back outside into the garden.
The light has changed.
Evening has arrived.
But it is not dark in a frightening way.
It is blue and silver and peaceful.
The first stars appear above the trees.
A path of small lanterns leads you toward a pond.
The water is perfectly still.
Moonlight rests on its surface like a silk cloth.
Around the pond,
Night-blooming flowers open softly.
Releasing a sweet,
Delicate scent.
You sit near the water.
Your lantern rests beside you.
The flame inside it reflects on the pond.
Making a second little star below.
This pond is a place of release.
Not dramatic release.
Not a heavy ceremony.
Just a gentle setting down.
Imagine that in your hand,
You hold a small stone.
This stone represents one thing.
You are ready to put down for now.
It may be worry.
It may be tension.
It may be loneliness.
It may be grief.
It may be the habit of being hard on yourself.
It may simply be the weight of the day.
You do not have to name it out loud.
You do not have to make it bigger than it is.
Just let the stone hold what you are ready to stop carrying in this moment.
Place the stone into the pond.
Not throwing it.
Not forcing it.
Just placing it gently into the water.
Watch the ripples move outward.
One circle than another.
Than another.
The water receives the stone completely.
It does not judge its weight.
It simply knows how to hold it.
As the ripples fade,
Feel a little more space in your chest.
A little more ease in your shoulders.
A little more room around your heart.
The moon above you shines softly.
And you understand something simple and true.
Letting go does not mean you did not care.
It means your spirit deserves moments of peace.
In this moonlit garden.
You become aware that you are not alone.
Around the pond,
Many lanterns begin to appear.
Some are held by people that you know.
Some by people you have never met.
Some by elders who came before you.
Some by children who will come after.
Some by friends,
Family.
Teachers.
Neighbors.
And kind strangers whose lives have touched yours in ways seen and unseen.
Each lantern is different.
Some are bright.
Some are small.
Some flicker.
Some shine steady.
But together,
They make the garden luminous.
Your own lantern is among them.
It does not need to be the brightest to belong.
It does not need to be perfect to matter.
Its light is part of the whole.
Imagine lifting your lantern slightly.
As you do,
Everyone around the pond lives theirs.
A circle of light forms around the water.
Let this circle remind you,
Every life gives off a light.
Sometimes through kindness.
Sometimes through humor.
Sometimes through patience.
Sometimes through a story told at the right time.
Sometimes through simply being present.
Feel the blessing moving around the circle now.
It comes to you through the lantern on your left.
It passes through your heart.
It moves from you to the lantern on your right.
Nothing is taken from you.
The more the light is shared,
The more there is.
If you wish.
Silently offer a blessing into the circle.
It could be as simple as.
.
.
May we be at peace.
Or may we be loved.
May we remember our light.
Let the blessing travel.
You do not have to have control where it goes.
As the lantern circle glows.
A small table appears near you in the garden.
On it rests a simple gift wrapped in a soft cloth.
This gift is from the wise and loving part of life.
From Spirit.
From memory.
From the earth.
From the ancestors.
From your own soul.
However you understand sacred love.
Walked at the table.
Untie the cloth slowly.
Inside is an object meant only for you today.
It may be a key.
A book.
A smooth stone.
Of photographs.
Or something else entirely.
It may not appear clearly and that is okay.
You may simply feel its meaning.
This gift carries a message.
Let the message be short and kind.
Perhaps it says rest.
Perhaps it says you are loved.
Perhaps,
It says,
Begin again.
Or perhaps it says your story still matters.
Take a moment to receive it.
Now place this gift.
Inside your lantern.
The flame makes room for it.
The light changes slightly.
Becoming even more your own.
You do not have to carry the object with effort.
The lantern carries it for you.
Bring the lantern close to your heart.
Feel the warmth there.
Feel how steady it is.
This warmth can come back with you.
Not as a heavy assignment.
Not as something you must maintain perfectly.
Just a little remembering.
The garden begins to grow quiet.
Not because it is leaving you.
Because it is preparing to send you home gently.
Take one last look around.
The old tree the flowers.
The Moonlit Pond.
The warm windowed house.
Lanterns around the water.
Let the beauty of this place press itself softly into your memory.
You may return here.
Anytime in your imagination.
Path knows you now.
Begin walking back towards the archway of branches.
Your steps are slow and comfortable.
Your lantern is with you,
Glowing near your heart.
The air still smells of lavender rain.
Cedar.
And flowers opening in the dark.
As you pass beneath the archway,
You see the sign again.
This time,
The words have changed.
It now says,
What is peaceful may come with you.
Let that be true.
You do not need to bring the whole garden back.
Only the peace.
Only the warmth.
Only the small steady light.
You find yourself once again on the soft earth path.
The room or your body lie begins to come closer.
You can feel the floor beneath you or soft surface.
You can feel your feet.
Your hands.
You can begin to hear the sounds around you.
Before you fully return.
Imagine your lantern becoming small enough to rest gently inside of your heart.
The flame remained steady there.
Checked it.
Alive.
Begin to deepen your breath.
Only as much as feels good.
Notice the temperature of the air on your skin.
You do not have to rush back.
Return like somebody walking home at sunset.
With enough time.
With enough gentleness.
When you are ready.
You may roll your shoulders softly.
You may let your eyes open.
If they were closed.
Allowing the room to come back into focus.
Little by little.
Bring one hand to your heart.
Or simply imagine warmth there.
I'd like you to receive these words.
I return with peace in my body.
Light in my heart.
And kindness for the road ahead.
And one final breath in.
And a gentle breath out.
You are here.
You are held by this room.
You are held.
By the earth beneath you and the lantern within you.
When you are ready.
Open your eyes.
Namaste.
