Welcome to the Embodying Greatness Podcast.
My name is Chris Delgado,
And this is episode five.
So this week we are talking about what intention is and how to live an intentional life.
So intentional living is a conscious choice to live in accordance with your principles and your values and your beliefs every single day.
And intention means to act with deliberate thought.
So think of it as living on purpose,
Taking into consideration what we do,
How we spend our time,
And why we do the things that we choose to do,
The people we choose to connect with or be in relationship with,
And how our day is lived out.
So listen,
Your minutes are precious.
Your minutes turn into hours that turn into days and weeks and months,
And then in no time at all,
You look up and all of those minutes are what define your life.
So in order to live on purpose,
We have to take all of these things into consideration,
Like how you treat your body,
The foods that you put in your body,
How you treat your mental and emotional health,
And the people that you hang out with,
And really the relationship that you have with yourself.
How do you treat your soul on a daily basis?
Every moment of every day,
You have a choice to make aligned choices and take aligned actions that define who you are and how you live your life,
And then whatever results you want to create from there.
You are a powerful,
Creative,
Compassionate,
Loving,
Energetic force on this planet.
Your intention and commitment will ultimately determine your results every single time.
So write that down if you're listening and you can write this down.
Your intention plus commitment will ultimately determine your results every single time.
So I know that this is a big topic,
But I'm going to simplify it so that it sticks with you.
You know,
Somebody told me years ago,
I heard this and it's always stuck with me.
Someone said,
A confused mind says no.
A confused mind says no.
It gets lost in confusion,
Uncertainty,
Overwhelm,
And we've all been there when we make things too complicated or too complex.
So let's simplify things so that our mind can say yes.
If a confused mind says no,
Let's simplify things so our mind can say yes.
So remember,
Intention means to act with deliberate thought.
So your thoughts drive your feelings or emotions.
Your emotions drive your actions.
And then,
Of course,
Your actions drive your results.
So my intention is to have a certain result.
So say my result is to be a certain weight or to be in shape or to have a certain dollar amount in the bank,
Whatever it is for you.
If thoughts drive my feelings or emotions,
Then if I think I can achieve that result,
Then I'm going to feel motivated to go to the gym,
To make healthy food choices,
To pick up an extra shift at work or choose to stay in instead of go out and spend money.
Whatever that is,
My actions will ultimately be congruent with my feelings and thoughts.
And then the opposite is true.
If I think I can't achieve a result,
Then I'll feel unmotivated or tired or just blah.
And I won't go to the gym or I'll grab some fast food.
Or instead of staying in and not spending money,
I'll go do some retail therapy.
So you see,
My actions still will ultimately be congruent with my feelings and thoughts.
So again,
This is where we get to be deliberate or intentional with our thoughts and feelings and ultimately our actions.
I think it was Henry Ford who said,
Whether you think you can or can't,
You're always going to prove yourself right.
So this follows along with that because it all starts with our thinking.
So in order to produce the outcome we want,
We get to consciously think about that outcome,
Declare it,
Set our intention,
And then our actions and all of those things will follow.
So the clarity is going to help us get from point A to point B all the time.
Remember,
We're simplifying everything.
We just need to get from point A to point B,
Figure out the steps,
Be intentional,
And go for it.
When we aren't deliberate or intentional,
Then we most likely get sidetracked from the outcome and we get lost and we feel all over the place.
And again,
I speak to clients on a very regular basis and this is one of the big things.
They feel like they're lost or they forget what they were even going for.
So we always get to add clarity and the way we can do that is by being intentional about our result.
Our minds generate thousands of thoughts each day and we know that some type of chemical is released with every one of them.
So when positive thoughts are generated,
When we are feeling good and happy and optimistic,
Then the cortisol decreases and the brain produces serotonin,
Creating feelings of well-being and all of those good things.
So if we're generating that many thoughts every day,
Again,
Being intentional with our thoughts ultimately has us be in charge of literally everything in our life.
And of course,
That includes being in charge of the life that we want to create every step of the way.
So remember this,
And again,
Write this down too.
Thoughts drive your feelings or emotions,
Your emotions drive your actions,
And your actions drive your results.
So having intentional thoughts is key.
So ask yourself what it is that you really want.
What are your goals,
Your dreams,
Your desired results?
And then once you're clear about what you want,
You intentionally or deliberately think about what actions you need to take to have it happen.
So I hope that this something resonates in this episode with you.
Again,
I love simplifying things.
I think that when we make things too complicated or too complex,
It actually does the exact opposite of what we want in life.
So one of the keys for me personally to living a masterful life is to simplify things.
And for those of you who know me,

Absolutely love simplifying things.
And that's how I have the results in my life that I want.
