Hi,
My name is Kelly and this meditation is for anyone who has suffered a loss.
Seven years ago I lost my husband and a friend said to me,
Kelly,
Just keep your head where your feet are.
Well at that moment when I connected to where my feet were,
I was in a very safe place.
I was in my home surrounded by people that loved me and it occurred to me that if I stayed in this present moment I could find some peace.
If I went backwards it was way too painful.
If I went forward there was so much fear.
So I want to help you find some peace in this present moment.
Find a comfortable position and when you're ready close your eyes.
Start with a nice gentle inhale and then a very very gentle exhale.
Let's do this one more time and let this inhale be as deep as you can.
And let the exhale empty everything out of your lungs.
And now become an observer of your breath.
Notice what happens.
Notice as the air goes through your nostrils,
Back to your throat,
Into your lungs and maybe even down into your belly.
And then notice as the air leaves your body how your lungs contract and maybe you've noticed a difference in temperature of the air as it leaves your nose.
Just observe.
And now I invite you to visualize yourself standing up wherever you are and visualize your feet as they are touching the earth.
Feel that grounded connection to the earth that is holding you up right now.
Feel safety and comfort that the earth is there holding you up.
And envision a white light above your head.
This white light carries peace in it.
Feel that peace drop down the top of your head,
Down your body,
Down your legs,
Your feet into the earth.
Feel that connection,
That white light from above is connecting you into this present moment where you are safe and there is peace here.
Visualize your body relaxing as it feels the peace travel down every inch of you.
You are not your past.
You're not your future.
You are here right now in this precious sacred moment.
If your mind starts to wander it's okay,
Just gently bring your awareness back to your body.
Maybe back to your breath or maybe back to that visualization of the white light from above connecting you into the earth.
There's safety and peace in this precious moment.
Feel again one long deep inhale and seal in that connection to your peace that you have and the connection to this present moment.
At any time when everything just feels to be way too much to handle just come back to this meditation,
Come back to this present moment where you are safe and where there is peace.
