And welcome to tonight's sleep meditation.
This one will be especially helpful for you if you are still feeling the movement of the day running through your body.
If you really,
Really want to sleep,
You know your body needs sleep,
And yet your body keeps wanting to move.
So,
Go ahead and close your eyes.
We're going to do a deep body relaxation,
So you can relax your entire body and fall asleep easily.
Settle into your chosen resting position,
And pay attention to your breath,
Letting it just flow naturally.
Inhale slowly,
And feel your chest and belly rise.
Feel this air tenderly for just a moment,
And then when you're ready,
Exhale smoothly,
Releasing the air as if it carries away everything you've been holding today.
Now let yourself settle into a nice,
Easy breath,
Breathing in just a little deeper with each inhale,
Breathing out just a little longer with each exhale,
Letting the rhythm soothe you and calm your body down.
Gently shift your awareness to find any place within you that feels tight or tense or uncomfortable.
Is it lingering in your back,
Or maybe in your wrists,
Or perhaps in your hips?
Just locate these spaces and observe the subtle notes of strain with each exhale.
And these areas are loosening,
Unwinding,
As if the warm sunlight is melting tension into a pool of calm.
Inhale serenity,
Exhale all the remnants of your busy day.
Inhale tranquility,
Exhale any worries as they drift away.
Feel the space within you expand,
Your brows smooth,
Your eyes soften,
Heavy with a pull of sleep,
Your shoulders sink into the cushion of calm beneath you,
Your hands unfurl,
Your fingers rest,
Every part of you succumbs to a deeper peace.
Imagine now that you are encircled by a luminous sphere of light.
It glows softly around you,
A cocoon of safety and warmth.
Within this radiant sphere,
You are untouched by the world's chaos.
You are the eye of the storm,
Still and silent.
Here you are calm,
Protected,
Whole,
Exactly as you're meant to be.
You embody tranquility,
You radiate kindness,
You relax deeply,
Breathe into your center,
And imagine this light spreading from there and relaxing everything it touches.
Feel it open and soften your hips.
Feel it pour calmness down your legs.
Feel it warm and soften your feet.
If thoughts arise,
Imagine each one fluttering like the leaf caught in the breeze and simply observe it and let it drift away.
With each breath out,
You feel lighter as your body melts deeper into your bed.
Now come into your center again and see this beautiful light of relaxation expand up into your chest.
Feel it soften.
Imagine the light covering your shoulders as they lower and relax.
See the light spread down your left arm into your hand,
Bringing warmth and softness,
And then see the light spread down your right arm into your hand,
Spreading warmth and relaxing you further.
See this light from your center spread up and down your back,
Following your spine all the way down and all the way up,
Blanketing your back and softening it,
Melting it.
Now feel this light spread up into your head as your jaw lowers and softens,
Your cheeks relax and your entire head opens and relaxes,
Your entire body is soft and ready for sleep.
You are serene,
Balanced,
Grounded.
