Have you ever noticed how your mind never stops talking?

Thought after thought,

Chatter after chatter,

Like a radio station that never powers down.

Sometimes it plays soft background music,

Sometimes it blasts static at full volume,

But it's always on.

And here's the thing,

Just because the radio is playing doesn't mean you dance to every tune.

And most of us spend our lives believing that voice,

Chasing every song,

Reacting to every commercial break.

But the truth is,

You're not the station.

You're the one listening.

You're the awareness that can choose whether to tune in,

Turn it down or switch the channel.

Think about it.

You wake up and the worry station starts broadcasting.

What if I mess up today?

What if I'm not good enough?

You sit down to work and suddenly the comparison station takes over.

By evening maybe it's the anger station on repeat.

Why did they treat me that way?

Why can't people just understand?

It feels relentless,

But here's the freedom.

You don't have to be at the mercy of the broadcast.

You can step back,

Notice the frequency and remind yourself.

This is just a station playing.

I don't have to believe every word.

So how do you practice this?

Next time a thought grips you,

Pause,

Take a slow breath.

Instead of following the story,

Label it.

Ah,

The worry station is playing.

Smile at it and then choose.

Do I keep listening or do I return to the stillness that exists beneath all the noise?

Because beneath every station there's a silence.

A deep steady silence that never changes.

That silence is you.

And you'll see it everywhere in life.

At work when your manager sends a short email and suddenly the doubt station is blaring.

They must be disappointed in me.

I'm not doing enough.

Or in relationships when a loved one forgets to call back and the insecurity station takes over.

They don't care about me.

I'm not enough.

I'm not important.

Even in traffic when someone cuts you off and the anger station cranks up.

It's all just programming.

Old stations replaying old tunes.

But the moment you recognize it as radio,

Not reality,

You reclaim the dial.

You remember that you choose silence,

Peace or even gratitude instead.

So let's set our intentions now.

Close your eyes for a moment.

Take a slow deep breath in.

Hold it gently.

And as you exhale,

Release the noise of yesterday.

And ask yourself,

What station do I want to tune into today?

What energy do I want my mind to broadcast?

What silence do I want to return to when the noise gets loud?

Hold those answers lightly in your heart.

Breathe them in.

Let them guide you forward.

And now,

Here's your mantra for this morning.

My mind is a radio.

My awareness is the listener.

I choose what I tune into and I'm the silence beneath the sound.

Repeat it slowly.

Let it echo inside you.

Again,

Louder within.

My mind is a radio.

My awareness is the listener.

I choose what I tune into.

I am the silence beneath the sound.

Carry this with you because yes,

The broadcasts will come.

The static will flare.

But today,

You don't have to be lost in it.

You can notice it,

Smile at it and return to the silence that has always been yours.

So the question really is,

What station will you tune into today?

This is a fun analogy. One I've never thought about. It presents an original option of choosing to change our thought patterns. I, personally, enjoy the silence most. 💙
