Yoga Nidra Journey Into The Chakras
by Kristen
Practice this 35-minute yoga nidra journey through the chakras to cleanse the energy centres from root to crown chakra. This meditation is inspired by the traditional tantric tradition, and will rotate your awareness through the energy centres and guide you to visualize psychic symbols. The ultimate aim of yoga nidra is to come to know our innermost self, the Atman.
Transcript
Namaste.
Welcome to your yoga nidra journey through the chakras.
This meditation practice will cleanse your energy centers from root to crown chakra and connect you to the wisdom of the Atman,
The innermost being that dwells within you.
Please find a quiet space and come into a comfortable shavasana on the floor.
Add bolsters behind your knees to support your back and use blankets to stay warm and relaxed through your whole body.
Adjust your body so that your spine is straight and aligned with your head and neck.
Keep your legs and arms slightly apart and your arms beside your body,
But not touching your body.
The palms of your hands face upwards.
Close your eyes and breathe slowly through both nostrils.
Bring your awareness to the quiet space in front of your closed eyes.
Imagine this space surrounding your whole body,
Your whole body immersed in this quiet space.
Feel this space and at the same time feel your body,
Your body and space as one sensation,
One point of awareness.
The space feels very light,
As light as a leaf falling from the tree.
Imagine your body slowly sinking into the space that you see in front of your closed eyes,
Like a falling leaf.
Become aware now of your breathing,
Your natural breath.
Take a deep breath in and breathe out.
As you breathe in,
Feel the air move through your nose and the sensation as it flows through the back of your throat,
Expanding into your chest until each cell of your body is filled with lightness.
And as you breathe out,
Feel the breath releasing all the stress and tension,
All the worries out of your body.
Breathing in lightness.
Breathing out,
Worries and thoughts dissolve.
Now is the time to repeat your sankalpa.
This is your inner vow,
Your intention that aligns you with the wisdom of your heart.
If you don't have a personal sankalpa,
Try working with this one.
I am at peace on all levels of my being.
Repeat it with feeling from the heart and not from the lips.
Repeat your sankalpa three times.
Now try to visualize your whole body.
Imagine you're viewing your body from outside,
As though a large mirror were suspended over your body and you can see your body reflected in it.
Look at your own reflection.
See your whole body,
Feet,
Knees,

Sense your whole body in a deep state of relaxation on the floor.
Continue to follow my voice,
Moving your awareness through the chakra centers,
Breathing deeply into each energetic point along your spine.
Begin by resting your awareness at Mooladhara Chakra,
Located at the base of your spine within the pelvic floor.
Imagine in this space a crimson red light glowing at your root.
Breathe deeply into this point.
As you breathe in,
The red light expands.
As you breathe out,
The warmth of the light flows up your spine and into your whole body.
Breath by breath,
The red light fills your whole body with vibrant heat.
Inhale the heat and keep your awareness at the root.
Inhale,
The red energy expands.
Exhale,
The cells of your body become red.
Every cell of your body filling with life force energy.
Feel the warmth and the heat that supports your life.
Move awareness into the second chakra,
Svarastana,
Located at a point in the sacrum below the navel.
Rest your awareness at this energetic point known as the seat of life.
As you breathe,
Imagine a beautiful orange light,
The color of the sunrise.
Breathe in and the orange light expands.
Breathe out and the light radiates up along your spine and into your whole body.
Breathing deeply into your sacrum,
The light expands.
Energy radiates into your whole body.
Feeling the creative energy washing through you in waves.
Every cell of your body filled with the pulsation of life.
Now rest your awareness at Manipura chakra,
At the solar plexus,
Above the navel and below the rib cage.
Reflects into this energetic point known as the city of jewels.
Visualize a golden yellow energy emanating from within you like the rays of the sun.
As you breathe in,
Yellow energy expands.
And as you breathe out,
It radiates up along your spine.
Inhale golden yellow light.
Exhale every cell of your body filling with the luminous fire.
Feeling the strength of the sun burning within you.
Move awareness into the heart chakra,
The anahata,
The space of the unstruck sound.
Breathe deeply into a green colored light at the center of your chest,
Pure like the morning air.
Breathe to expand and breathe out to spread the light of the heart through your whole body and all around your body.
With every breath,
The green light expands and spreads the vibration of love and compassion to every cell of your body.
Every cell of your body is light and free.
Feeling the pulse of love moving through you like a great river.
Your awareness flows to Vajudha chakra at the center of your throat.
Imagine a sky blue light vibrating at your throat,
The space of inner truth.
As you breathe in,
Expand the blue light.
As you breathe out,
Feel its cool and clear energy spreading along your spine.
Breathe in,
Expand the blue light.
Breathe out,
Your whole body washed in coolness,
In clarity,
In truth.
Feeling every cell of your body cleansed,
Purified.
Deepen awareness at the eyebrow center,
The Agna chakra,
The space of inner knowing.
Breathe into a beautiful indigo light at your forehead at the third eye point.
Breathe in and intensify the indigo light.
Breathe out to spread its calm and quiet energy throughout your body.
Breathe deeply in and out.
Keep your awareness of the light.
Sense this brilliant energy dissolving all the past images and pictures in your mind.
Feeling the cells of your body quiet like a constellation of stars in the night sky.
Finally become aware of Sahasrara chakra at the crown of your head.
This is the thousand petaled lotus of pure consciousness.
Sense a pure light at the crown.
The light is made of all the colors of the rainbow,
Blended into one divine source of light.
As you breathe in,
The cosmic energy enters the crown of your head.
And as you breathe out,
The energy flows through your spine to every part of your body.
Every cell of your body filling with healing energy.
Feeling the wisdom of the universe inside of your body pulsing.
Now slowly descend awareness through the chakras in reverse order.
Rest your attention at each energetic point and feel a slight pulsation or vibration.
Sahasrara at the crown of your head.
Agnya,
The eyebrow center.
Vajudha at your throat.
Anahata in the center of your chest.
Manipura solar plexus.
Svaristhana below the navel.

Continue to deepen your awareness into the chakras and use your imagination to visualize sacred symbols at each point.
Sense the pulse of the chakra and at the same time visualize the following symbols.
Imagine a deep red lotus at your pelvic floor.
Inside the red lotus is a golden snake coiled three and a half times.
Use all your inner senses to imagine this symbol to the best of your ability.
Move your awareness to the navel center.
Imagine a starry night and a crescent moon over the sea.
Now to the solar plexus.
Visualize a ten-petaled yellow lotus and inside the lotus a bright blazing fire.
At the heart center,
A solitary flame burning in the darkness.
Try to visualize the flame while sensing the energetic pulse at your chest.
Move awareness to your throat and imagine a pure drop of white nectar.
Feel the drop of nectar at your throat center.
And at the eyebrow center,
A two-petaled silver lotus.
On the left-hand pedal is the full moon and on the right-hand pedal,
A glowing sun.
In the center,
The symbol of the Aum.
Create an image of the Aum at the eyebrow center and feel its vibration.
Finally at the fountain head of all the chakras,
Imagine a thousand-petaled lotus with a pure white center growing out of the crown of your head.
Now visualize these symbols again in the reverse order at their energetic points.
A thousand-petaled lotus,
The symbol of the Aum,
Pure drop of white nectar,
Solitary flame in the darkness,
A blazing fire of the sun,
Crescent moon over the sea,
A golden snake coiled three and a half times.
Golden snake,
Crescent moon,
Blazing fire,
Solitary flame,
Drop of white nectar,
The symbol of the Aum.
A thousand-petaled lotus growing out of the crown of your head.
Bring all your attention to the eyebrow center.
Sense the pulse of energy at the eyebrow center.
Become aware of the rhythmic pulse that connects you to the greater pulse of the universe.
Feel the pulse and mentally repeat the mantra Aum at the eyebrow center.
Repeat the mantra Aum to the pulse at the eyebrow center.
Now is the time to repeat your sankalpa with full emphasis and feeling.
Repeat your sankalpa three times now.
And stay connected to the deeper feeling of your meditation as you return through the layers of the self.
Become aware of your natural breath.
Your sense perceptions,
Eyes,
Ears,
Nose,
Mouth,
Hands.
Aware of your body on the floor.
Really begin to move your body.
And when you're ready to sit up,
Open your eyes and return to the waking consciousness of your dream.
