And as this light enters the area of your face,
Becoming present to both the warmth and the relaxation that it brings you,
With each breath drawing this light in more deeply.
Now draw this light down to your throat,
The areas of your neck and shoulders,
Noticing any tension you might be holding from night time,
And gently drawing the warmth into these areas,
With each breath becoming present to the muscles of your arms,
Your forearms,
Drawing all the way down to your hands and your fingertips.
Notice if you can feel what light feels like in your fingertips.
Is it warm or cool?
Perhaps you're present to a tingling.
With each breath visualize the light entering through your nostrils,
Through your face,
Your mouth,
And now down into your throat,
Your shoulders,
Your arms,
And into your hands.
See if you can visualize an orb of light that you're holding at your fingertips.
This is a warm,
Comforting light that's here to support you in your practice.
Now draw this light through your hands,
Back up your arms,
To your shoulders,
And into your heart center,
Noticing this strength and heart center,
The heart chakra,
Being filled with light with each breath,
Allowing your muscles to relax and becoming present to any tension that you might be holding in your back,
In your chest,
In your abdomen,
As you draw this breath and light more deeply into your belly.
For those of you who might be familiar with yoga and the chakras,
Draw the light all the way down to your root chakra,
Down to your pelvis.
Feel yourself being seated firmly,
Being supported by the chair or the cushion.
Now feel this light filling all of your body,
Being drawn in through the breath,
Through your hands,
And being supported by your core.
Now in these next few minutes,
Ask of your body what it needs from you.
What does your body need?
And offer whatever that is to yourself,
Whether that's in the form of light or warmth or compassion,
Radiating back to yourself.
Notice that this external light source is a source of energy that you can carry with you throughout your day,
That whether it be in the form of your breath or light or warmth,
That when you become present to your body,
That this is part of who you are.
Now in the final minutes of our practice,
Please offer yourself some gratitude for coming and giving yourself this time and space to sit.
And then take a moment to set an intention for your day.
How do you want to show up for yourself and others today?
