Sacred Breath Healing Meditation for Fear and Anxiety Relief

Use this meditation when you feel frightened or anxious. To begin with you may only be able to concentrate on being aware of the air coming in through your nostrils and down the back of your throat. As you follow the guidance, you will feel your body begin to relax with each breath you take. As you become comfortable with your shallow breaths, you will be guided to focus on being aware of your in-breath going down to the tops of your lungs. Eventually your heart will settle down and you'll be able to breathe all the way down into your abdomen and feel the energy of your breath permeate through your entire body helping your feel calm and safe. Welcome to your Julie Lewin healing meditation.

These meditations have been designed as a consequence of needing to help myself through five major surgeries.

I've shared them with my clients and friends and they've been so successful that I was asked to share them with you too.

Without further chatter,

Let's begin.

First of all,

I want to talk about your breath and to help your body do its job of keeping you alive.

The best thing to do when you're feeling frightened is to focus on your breath.

To begin with,

You may only be able to concentrate on being aware of the air coming in through your nostrils and down the back of your throat.

Do that now.

The breath gently flow out through your mouth.

This will relax your diaphragm and slowly release the tension out of your body.

When you're comfortable with this,

Focus on being aware of your in-breath.

Going down to the tops of your lungs and then letting the out-breath gently flow out through your mouth.

Your heart should now be settling down and you will be able to start breathing all the way down into your stomach.

Feel the energy of the breath permeate all the way down into your stomach.

And when you're ready,

Let the breath gently flow out.

Now that you're comfortable with your breath,

I want you to imagine that you're taking a deep breath,

Drawing it all the way up from the base of your spine.

I'll call this the base chakra from now on.

You'll need to imagine or feel that this is possible.

Draw that breath all the way up through your abdomen,

Your stomach,

Your lungs to the top of your shoulders.

Hold it and gently release out through your mouth all the way out so that there's no air left in your lungs.

No need to rush,

Just let it out gently.

Let's do that again.

Take a deep breath in through the base chakra,

Drawing it all the way up through your abdomen,

Stomach,

Lungs,

All the way up to the top of your shoulders.

Hold it and gently release through your mouth,

Letting go of any tension in your body.

That's it.

Let it all go all the way out.

Out.

Let's do that again.

Take a deep breath in through the base chakra,

Drawing it all the way up through your abdomen,

Stomach,

Lungs,

All the way up to the top of your shoulders.

Hold it and gently release through your mouth,

Letting go of any residual tension in your body.

That's it.

Let it all go all the way out.

Out.

Breathing normally now,

Just be conscious of the air and flow in your body.

Having no mind about it,

Just be the breath.

Breathing in through your nose,

Breathing out through the mouth.

Gently in,

Gently out.

You are feeling relaxed and calm.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

You are peaceful and calm.

You may be feeling like you're floating within your body.

Peaceful and calm.

Knowing that when you stop focusing on your breath,

Your body knows what to do.

It still breathes.

You are safe.

You are pretty.

Your body knows what to do.

Breathe easily and effortlessly.

Gently,

Gently,

Gently.
