Hello beautiful being,
John here.
I recently found this extraordinary and beautiful poem by David Wagoner called Lost,
And I thought I'd take a moment here to share it with you.
In fact,
What I thought would be cool is that we share the poem,
Then perhaps we sit in meditation for just a couple of minutes,
And then we hear the poem again so we get time to contemplate and allow the poetry to do its work.
Lost by David Wagoner Stand still The trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost Wherever you are is called here And you must treat it as a powerful stranger Must ask permission to know it and be known The forest breathes,
Listen,
It answers I have made this place around you If you leave,
You may come back again saying here No two trees are the same to raven No two branches are the same to wren If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost Stand still The forest knows where you are You must let it find you Let's just have a couple of minutes sitting with it Remaining in your practice,
I'm just going to share the poem with you again and then we'll draw this to a close Stand still The trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost Wherever you are is called here And you must treat it as a powerful stranger Must ask permission to know it and be known The forest breathes,
Listen,
It answers I have made this place around you If you leave,
You may come back again saying here No two trees are the same to raven No two branches are the same to wren If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost Stand still The trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost If you leave,
You may come back again saying here No two trees are the same to raven The forest knows where you are You must let it find you Thank you for taking these few moments with me to sit with this beautiful poem Have a beautiful day Bless you
