Hello and welcome to this relaxing breathing exercise.

Please take a moment to get comfortable and allow me to guide you through a calming breathwork visualisation.

You're welcome to lie down on your back,

Sit comfortably on the floor or a chair.

If you're seated on a chair I'd like to offer the suggestion of keeping both of your feet on the ground and your back away from the chair rest.

Take a moment to check in with the breath,

Noticing where it's at for you today.

Now imagine your body is a hot air balloon.

The lower body from the hips down is the basket of the hot air balloon resting heavy in a field of grass.

The upper body from the hips upward is the balloon and strings resting on the grass beside the basket.

Next,

Ignite a fire at your heart centre.

As you breathe deeply that flame gets stronger and brighter allowing the balloon to inflate.

The deeper you breathe in the stronger the balloon becomes.

With your next deep inhale imagine the air balloon lifting up into the sky.

Keep breathing deeply as it rises higher and higher towards the clouds.

Imagine yourself floating peacefully for three more full breaths.

Now we will begin the journey of landing our hot air balloon back on the earth.

To do this we need to soften the exhale.

Breathe out as slow and soft as you can,

Making each exhale a little longer and more gentle than the one before.

As you breathe out the balloon lowers closer and closer towards the earth.

On the next exhale you'll be able to make out the blades of grass below.

And with the next exhale we will land our balloon graciously in the field of grass.

Keep exhaling softly,

Allow the balloon to deflate and lightly land on the earth beside the basket.

Allow your breath to come back to its natural rhythm.

Notice how you feel.

As we come towards the end of the practice know that you always have a flame burning brightly inside you and that whenever you need a moment of calm,

A moment to gather yourself,

Close your eyes and breathe deeply into the heart center.

Namaste.
