I'm really glad you're here.
As the day comes to an end,
I thought we could spend a few quiet minutes together before you go to sleep.
There's nowhere else to be right now.
Nothing to catch up on.
Nothing asking for your attention.
Just this moment.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath in.
And let it go.
Notice the support beneath you.
The bed beneath your body.
The pillow supporting your head.
The blanket resting over you.
Allow yourself to settle a little more with each breath.
How has today been like for you?
Has it been full?
Challenging.
Or is it simply one of those ordinary days that still left you feeling a little lonely?
Whatever today held,
You've made it here.
And I'm glad you did.
Stay here with me for an easy breath Notice the rhythm of your breathing.
Air.
And out.
There's nothing you need to force your body already knows how to breathe Your body already knows how to rest.
Sometimes it simply needs a little time to arrive there.
As you lie here,
Perhaps let the day begin to drift a little further away.
The conversations,
The responsibilities.
The things that went well.
Things that didn't.
They've all had their turn today.
Tomorrow will come when it's ready.
Tonight can simply be tonight.
Take another slow breath.
I hope you'll be kind to yourself as this day comes to a close.
However today unfolded.
You made it through.
And that's enough.
Thank you for letting me spend these last few minutes of your day with you.
I hope this moment has brought a little comfort.
A little steadiness and perhaps the feeling that someone was here beside you for a while.
Take one final slow breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
I hope you sleep well.
I hope tomorrow greets you kindly.
And I hope you wake knowing that even on the quietest days,
You're never as alone as loneliness sometimes make you believe.
If this practice resonated with you today,
You might also find support in my 10-day course,
Understanding Loneliness.
Together we'll explore why loneliness affects us so deeply.
How it shapes the way we think,
Feel and connect.
And gentle ways to begin reconnecting with yourself,
With others and with life.
Good night.
Take care of yourself.
