Welcome to day one of your five day,
Five minute meditation challenge.
Now these are quick,
So your body might not take in the full state of relaxation of a longer meditation.
But this challenge is allowing you to get an introduction to the practice of meditation.
To start training your mind,
Your body,
And your soul to take some time for you.
So welcome to day one,
And congratulations on taking on this challenge.
We're going to start by getting yourself situated in a comfortable position,
Whether that is sitting or laying down.
Just taking a moment to let your body go into a state of relaxation.
And we'll start by taking a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
And gently letting that go.
And let's take another long,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
And let that go.
Focusing now on your regular breathing.
Just breathe as you normally do.
We're going to take our focus and pay attention to the breath coming in,
And the breath going out.
Feeling that breath coming in through your nose,
And back out again.
I want you to focus on pushing your belly up,
Full of air,
As you inhale,
And then allowing it to flatten as you release.
Just focusing on our breath,
Knowing that thoughts and sounds from elsewhere are going to enter your mind,
And that's okay.
As they roll in,
Just allow them to roll out.
We'll use the visual as a notion.
As a wave comes in,
It also recedes.
When was the last time you really allowed yourself the space to just sit alone with you?
To let the rest of the world fall away,
And to take those moments just for you.
Chances are,
If you're a part of this challenge,
It's been a while,
Or it's been a difficult time for you to carve that out.
So today,
In this moment,
I just want you to feel your body,
Whether you're laying or sitting,
Just feel it in this state,
And allowing tension to release.
Continue focusing on your breathing,
And whenever you feel distracted from any thoughts that come in,
We focus back on our breathing.
On filling your belly up with air as you breathe in,
And flattening as you exhale.
And just keeping with that visual of the ocean,
I want you to picture yourself,
Ocean side,
In the most comfortable beach chair you've ever found.
I want you to feel the warmth of the sun on your skin,
Your face,
On your body,
And hearing those ocean waves crashing not too far away from you.
Allowing a space to feel completely relaxed,
And completely warm.
Enjoying this beautiful day by the beach,
And hear the birds,
Maybe a boat off in the distance,
And then a slight breeze comes over you,
And you feel it cool the tips of your skin.
You have nowhere else to be,
And nothing else to do.
Relaxing in paradise.
I want you to take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Start to wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Become aware of the room around you.
When you feel ready,
Open your eyes.
