Hello everyone,
Now for our first Chakra Tea and we're starting at the root and this is also known as Malahara in Sanskrit which means root and existence.
It provides you with security,
Stability and a solid foundation.
A lotus flower with four petals often stylized as a circle with four petals with a downward pointing triangle.
The downward pointing triangle symbolizes spirit connecting with matter.
This is the chakra that connects us to our physical world located at the base of the spine that governs our physical energies giving us a sense of safety and security with other people and ourselves.
It is responsible for the fight or flight response when survival is under threat,
Governing instinct,
Security and survival.
That is our need for food,
Shelter and safety.
Physically it governs vitality,
Mentality,
It governs stability emotionally,
It governs sensuality,
Spirituality and it governs a sense of security.
The root chakra is also connected to the sense of smell.
It is usually a deep shade of red and it feeds and supports your adrenal glands which are a small glands located over your kidneys.
The adrenal glands secrete many critical hormones that help regulate the stress response.
The root chakra is responsible for the health of your bones and muscles,
Your kidneys and bladder,
Your body fluids like blood,
Your rectum and your immune system.
This important chakra helps you feel safe and secure and it is tied to your survival instinct.
The energy of the root chakra is all about those basic survival needs.
Without a strong root chakra you will not thrive and you will struggle for survival.
When you are out of balance your root chakra sends your body powerful warnings through its associated glands and systems.
You may feel anxious,
Unable to cope with stress.
Your blood pressure may be out of balance,
Your bones may ache and you may even experience chronic fatigue,
Depression and or your immune system may also fall out of sync.
The root chakra is situated between the coccyx and the pelvic bone and is usually a beautiful deep shade of red or crimson connecting you to the earth and your survival instinct.
The root chakra is associated with the musical note of C and crystals such as bloodstone,
Argate,
Hermitite,
Garnet,
Ruby or red jasper are great for this chakra.
Its element is earth,
Its animal is an elephant and essential oils used for the root chakra are vetiver,
Lavender,
Sandalwood,
Patchouli and frankincense.
The goddesses that correspond to the root chakra are Pele and Kale and its planet is Saturn.
The guardian angel is the archetype here and provides protection through wisdom and deep access to hidden understandings.
For many the archangels and in particular Archangel Michael are also archetypes of the root chakra.
Now I thought we'd do some affirmations too to use while you're having your tea.
So some good root chakra affirmations are I'm grounded,
Safe and secure,
I trust the process of life,
I'm deeply connected to the earth,
I have a right to be here and take up space,
I am stable,
Strong and healthy,
I am financially secure and abundant,
I release fear and embrace safety,
I am nourished and supported by mother earth,
I am present and aware of the here and now,
I have a solid foundation and feel at home in my body.
So now the tea and for the root chakra it's a dandelion tea and remember that we all have different tastes so brewing for five minutes might be too long for some people so just keep balancing it until it gets to your liking and your taste.
Also as precautions some herbs have contraindications with medications etc so if you're taking anything best to check that the herbs will not interact with them.
Now when we're making tea we talk about the herbs and using a part of something and this can be a cup,
It can be a tablespoon,
It depends on how much you want to make.
So for the dandelion tea the main root herb is dandelion and so we need one part dandelion so that's your cup,
Your half a cup or whatever and then half part alder flower,
Half part ginger root and that's dried not powder,
Powder makes it a lot stronger and a lot harder to balance and a quarter part sage.
So have fun making this and I'd love to hear how it goes for you and the next one will be for the sacral chakra.
I've also got a lovely tea oracle deck and so for an added bonus this morning I've pulled out a card for tamarind,
Hibiscus and ginger tea and this one is for detoxing.
So with this one you can bring four cups of water to the boil in a pot with a cup of hibiscus flowers and take off heat and add one heaped tablespoon of tamarind,
A spoon of honey and a thumb sized piece of ginger sliced and then with this one you steep it for an hour,
Then strain it and chill it and you can pour it over ice and garnish it with mint.
So I hope you've had fun with these and let me know how you go.
Until next time,
Namaste.
