Moonsong For Chi The Farmhouse Cat

The main farmhouse at Kulaniapia Falls (Big Island of Hawaii) has an open kitchen & common area, shared by the farm workers, the guests, and three farmhouse cats. The black cat named “Chi” was the friendliest and followed me all around the property in the evening as I went looking for places to record my flute near the river.

This song was recorded on the balcony of the Kulaniapia Falls Inn, overlooking the waterfall, late in the evening, accompanied by coqui frogs, and Chi the Cat (of course)! If you listen carefully, you can hear that I’m playing a high D Native American flute in the same key as Chi’s voice.

This track is best listened to at a low to moderate volume, similar to a quiet Hawaiian evening next to a moonlit waterfall.
