Growing up playing sports,
Being physically sore is something I've always been used to and understood how is helping me grow.
If you're lifting weights to get stronger,
Being sore the next day is fairly normal and expected.
The stress you're putting on your muscles causes them to break down.
But by resting and recovering,
They grow stronger afterwards.
However,
As I've been growing mentally,
Spiritually,
And emotionally,
When the first signs of being sore would show up,
I would get confused,
Uncomfortable,
And wonder what was going on.
When I became present to this,
I realized I also needed to rest and recover to grow in those areas too.
This allowed me to lean into those feelings and take care of myself just as I would if my legs were sore after doing squats.
Be it physically,
Mentally,
Emotionally,
Or spiritually,
You need both stress and rest to grow stronger.
So next time you have a big wave of growth,
Take time for yourself to rest and recover.
And come back to this track.
Whenever you need to remind yourself of this truth.
