Have you ever found yourself thinking that you didn't want something,
Only for it to happen?
This happened to me when my wife's grandparents passed away and left us all these beautiful green glass serving dishes.
Every time I was around them,
I'd think to myself,
I don't want to break them.
So what ends up happening?
I've probably broken about five of them so far.
You see,
Where you focus your attention,
Energy flows.
If you keep telling yourself that you don't want something,
It tends to happen because that is where your attention is.
When I became present to this concept,
It really helped me change my thinking around.
If you don't want something,
Then what is the opposite that you do want?
For example,
When I give presentations,
I used to think I don't want to mess up.
I don't want people not to like me.
I don't want to feel anxious.
So when I give a presentation now,
I think about what I want and visualize what I want to have happen and the feelings I want to have.
What I want is to feel connected with the audience,
Share my gifts with them,
And feel amazing afterwards.
This shift,
Which takes practice,
And is still practice,
Has made a big impact.
It allows you to bring in more of the things that you want in your life,
Rather than those that you don't want.
Would you want that?
Try it for yourself.
Whenever you find yourself thinking about what you don't want,
Flip it and focus your attention on what you do want.
You can think of it as a coin.
If one side of the coin is what you don't want,
If you flip it,
What is on the other side that you do want?
You're literally asking for the same thing,
Except what you want is rooted in abundance and possibility,
Instead of what you don't want,
Which is rooted in scarcity and fear.
So try it out and come back to this track whenever you need to remind yourself of this truth.
