Welcome to this cozy chat on Beltane.

My name is Jenny Siebel,

And I have been a witch for three decades.

In this chat,

It is exactly that it's cozy,

It's relaxing,

It's informal.

So if you want to make yourself comfortable and grab a journal or a cup of tea,

We're just going to chat about the energy of Beltane.

And this chat is for people who are interested in witchcraft or paganism,

Or who are just interested in tuning in to the earth and her seasons.

So Beltane is what we call a cross quarter day.

On the wheel of the year,

We have eight Sabbaths,

And the cross quarter days fall in between an equinox and a solstice.

So in this case,

Beltane is falling in between spring and summer,

Right?

And it's usually celebrated around May 1st.

But as I talk about here,

And I talk about in our coven,

We like to look at the energy as almost like a pie slice on the wheel of the year.

So when we enter Beltane energy,

We stay in that energy all the way until the summer solstice.

So it's a little bit more relaxed way.

Instead of just celebrating on the one day on May Day on May 1st,

You have that whole time period between May 1st and the summer solstice to really tap into what Beltane means to you.

So Beltane is the height of spring,

Right?

And so you have to really think about what does spring energy mean to you?

It's flowers blooming,

It's butterflies,

It's pollinators,

It's the earth waking up,

Right?

It's really when we have spring equinox,

For a lot of people,

They may not see any signs of spring,

There may still be snow on the ground,

Right?

By the time we get to Beltane,

Many places are in spring,

People are seeing signs of spring and having flowers and starting gardens and really kind of tapping into Mother Earth waking up,

Right?

Beltane also happens to be in Taurus energy.

So the zodiac sign of Taurus is heavily influenced by the planet Venus.

And Venus is the planet of love and beauty.

And so really Beltane is about those things.

It's about love,

It's about beauty.

If we look at the earth,

It's so fertile at this time,

Right?

It feels like anything's possible.

You start to see nests being built and babies being born and flowers blooming and pollinators.

It just feels almost heady with beauty and possibility and fertility.

And that in essence,

Is really the theme of Beltane.

It's fertility.

And so what does that mean?

For maybe someone who isn't interested in having children,

Or is past the childbearing age,

What does it mean to be fertile?

It means to be fertile with possibility,

With ideas,

With creativity,

With goals,

Right?

That's another way to think of fertility.

We don't have to think of it on such a biological,

Literal level.

We can think of it as more of a metaphorical,

Symbolic idea of fertility.

So one of the first kind of ideas or journal questions for you is to think about what does it mean to be fertile?

And what kind of fertility do you want to bring into your life at this time?

Another journal question is,

What makes,

What music makes you want to dance?

And I really suggest that you celebrate the energy of Beltane with dance.

And we want to dance,

Maybe alone with our eyes closed with nobody watching,

Right?

But a really great activity for Beltane is to create an uplifting or spiritual or dance-worthy playlist that really makes you feel like you can move your body in joy.

So it's about expressing through the body joy and the happiness of fertility.

Another question is,

How can you give yourself more love?

So if we're looking at fertility,

Right?

And we're looking at animals having babies and,

You know,

All these plants and these flowers and love in the air,

How can we turn that back on ourselves?

And how can we give ourselves more love?

What does that mean?

That means nourishing.

That means real self-care,

Right?

Like meditation here on Inside Timer or elsewhere,

Right?

It looks like dancing for joy.

It looks like journaling.

It looks like getting more sleep.

Maybe it looks like getting outside.

And then another question is,

Who in your life needs some of your love?

And this isn't a question to make you feel guilty or unhappy,

Right?

It's more about,

You know,

Maybe it's a plant.

Maybe it's a pet.

Maybe you take for granted that your dog just always comes and greets you every day,

But you don't stop to give them a pet,

Right?

So it's just really noticing the love already in your life and how you can express love back to all the beings that love you.

All right,

Including the plants and the trees.

And another great activity is gardening.

If you can't,

If you don't have land or space,

Then getting,

You know,

A couple little plants to keep in your house,

But really learning to tune in with the plants and tend to the plants as a symbol of tending to your own self,

Right?

So putting maybe a plant or a seedling on your altar,

Tending to that plant and letting it be a metaphor that for you tending to your own growth.

And another great idea is,

If we're talking about altars,

Is on the altar to really decorate it with a womb symbols,

Right?

So womb symbols in witchcraft tend to be bowls,

Cauldrons,

Things that are containers that are usually empty,

Right?

A seashell,

Things that say femininity,

That say that is something that can hold something else.

And so if you place a womb symbol on your altar,

Then it's a really great place to put wishes,

Dreams,

Hopes,

Desires,

Other things you'd like to have be more fertile in your life as an activity for belting.

And then of course,

Flowers.

Please bring in flowers,

Buy flowers for yourself,

Pick flowers for yourself,

Put them in your home,

Put them in your altar.

And then mirrors are a really great thing to place on your altar at this time as a way to represent the divine feminine and the moon.

Valentine is a very feminine holiday,

Right?

It's very,

It's very fertile.

It's very like Mother Earth,

It's very womb.

And then when we go to summer solstice,

It's gonna be more masculine,

It's more solar,

It's more sun.

And so right now,

It's really great,

Regardless of gender to tune into that divine femininity.

And this is a really great time of year to do spells for self love,

For love of others,

Love of planet.

It's a really great time to send love,

You know,

In meditations.

It's,

We often will say,

You know,

May you be well,

But you can say may you be loved,

May you know love.

It's a great time to do affirmations surrounding love.

I am loved.

I am loving.

I am lovable.

I am love.

Right?

I don't necessarily suggest the love spells on other people.

Love spells are best done on ourselves to really enhance our self love to enhance our sense of completeness and wholeness.

So I hope this Beltane is beautiful for you.

I hope you have lots of fertility.

And I hope you are feeling loved,

Especially by yourself.

Blessed be.
