Welcome to a cozy chat on the Summer Solstice,

Also known as Litha or Leitha.

This is one of the eight Sabbaths of the Wheel of the Year,

Or the Witch's Wheel of the Year.

My name is Jenny Siebel.

I am the author of Spirit Crystals,

Discover Your Crystal Guide for Healing and Empowerment,

And the founder and hostess of our coven.

I've been a witch for over 30 years,

And Summer Solstice is one of my favorite Sabbaths to celebrate.

It's the longest day of the year,

Which always feels so energizing,

So invigorating.

So the first thing I want to tell you about or invite you to do during the Summer Solstice energy if you can is get outside.

It's usually,

For most people,

Pretty decent weather,

And it's such a beautiful day.

If you can get up and see the sunrise and then also witness the sunset,

That would honestly be a perfect Summer Solstice.

If you can't do that because you're working or whatnot,

It's okay.

But definitely try to get outside and get some sunshine on yourself.

Obviously,

Careful with sunscreen and things like that,

But it's really just a day that makes you want to be outside,

Makes you want to celebrate,

Right?

Some pagans refer to it as mid-summer because depending on where you live,

It kind of feels like the middle.

I know where I live,

It really only begins to feel like summer around this time.

Traditionally,

This is a really great holiday or time of year to connect to land spirits.

And land spirits are the elementals of earth,

Air,

Fire,

And water,

Are maybe ancestors of the land,

Are the spirits of the trees,

The flowers,

The herbs,

The plants,

The stones,

Where you live.

Now,

If you don't live in a place where you can connect with land because it's suburban or you live in an apartment or something that,

You can definitely connect with land spirits outside somewhere else,

Right?

On a trail,

In a park,

Right?

They're everywhere.

And they just are something that we can connect with as witches to feel like a deeper sense of connection with mother nature,

To feel a deeper sense of connection with the elements and with the plant life and the stone life around us.

One of the most traditional land spirits a lot of people talk about are fairies or fae or good neighbor,

And they're not everywhere.

And so you kind of want to be open if you decide this summer solstice to connect with a land spirit.

You just want to kind of be open with what the energy is.

And one of the things you can do if you're unsure is bring your tarot or your oracle cards with you and ask the cards,

You know,

Who is the land spirit I'm connecting with?

And would you like offerings?

And what kind of energy do you bring?

And just kind of allow yourself to be open to the communication.

Or you can actually just go up if you already feel like a connection to one of the trees in your yard,

Just go up to the tree and say,

I want to connect with you.

I honor you.

I see you as a spirit.

I see you as a guide.

And you know,

Give it a hug,

Right?

Very witchy,

Very pagan.

But really,

This is the time where we just want to be outside like little fairies ourselves,

Traipsing around,

Touching flowers,

Hugging trees,

Rolling in the grass,

Like,

Let your inner child out to play,

Right?

Many of us went to traditional school systems where summer we got to play,

Summer we were off.

And there's a part of you that still wants that play.

Allow it to happen,

Right?

Allow summer solstice to be fun,

To be playful.

I always say the path of the witch can be very creative,

Very playful,

Very fun,

Right?

It's not stuffy.

Allow the fun to happen.

Something else to think about is that summer solstice is one of the more masculine of the Sabbaths because we are celebrating the sun.

And yes,

There are sun goddesses like Sunna or Sunna from the Norse and Amaterasu from like different parts of Asia.

But for the most part,

Most solar deities are masculine.

And so it's a good time,

You know,

We all have divine feminine and divine masculine inside of our bodies,

Inside of our energy.

It's a good time to allow yourself to replenish the divine masculine.

And it actually makes a lot of sense.

With all the sunshine out,

We want to do,

Right?

We want to do more.

We want to be outside.

We tend to be more active.

We tend to gather with people more.

We don't mind,

You know,

Like,

Because the days are long,

We feel like we have a lot more energy.

We feel like we have a lot more day to fit things in.

We become a little busier.

That's all that masculine doing energy.

So definitely allow yourself to tap into that.

However,

That means to you,

Right?

If you feel like I don't really want to,

I feel very feminine.

I'm trying to be in my feminine.

It's totally okay.

But it's just something to think about or consider.

Some really great summer solstice journal questions are,

What does it mean to be masculine?

And wow,

Like thinking of where we are now in the world and society,

This question is very deep and it really has,

You know,

A lot of weight to it.

And you can think about masculine figures in your life,

Masculine deities.

You can think about fathers,

Grandfathers,

You know,

Father's Day is always right around this time as well.

What are your masculine qualities?

And so the masculine is the get stuff done quality,

Right?

It's the doing,

It's your job,

It's the working,

It's the checking things off the to do list.

So let yourself sit with that.

And like I said,

No matter our gender,

We have both masculine and feminine qualities.

What does it look like for you to stand in your power,

Right?

The sunshine is so empowering.

And it really ties to that solar plexus chakra,

That inner sun,

That center of power.

So what does it look like for you to stand in your power?

And if you're one,

If you're a person that doesn't feel empowered in your life,

Envision it,

Right?

What does it look like?

Like if you were really in your power,

If you took back all your power,

You called it back to you,

Stood in your power,

What would that look like to you?

What would it look like to outsiders?

What does positive,

Balanced power look like for you,

Right?

So what does it mean to be in a healthy sense of power,

Right?

Power has kind of an ugly undertone in our society.

And it's because people have maybe abused it.

But if you're in your true healthy spiritual power,

What does that look like?

And the last question,

Where are you holding back in life?

Summer solstice is this time to look at the seeds you planted in spring,

Right?

What did you plant in spring?

And then you take that sunshine,

That sunlight,

And you shine a light on where you're holding yourself back or where you're not allowing growth.

You know,

Where are you not,

What seeds are you not watering?

Those are all questions to ask ourself at this time.

This is a great time to do spells to take your power back,

Like I mentioned,

To do manifestations with clear mundane steps for you to follow.

It's a good time to feel any father wounds or father trauma,

If that's something you want to take part in.

Crystals I love to work with at this time are citrine,

Sunstone,

Tiger's eye,

And I love seashells.

I love to put those all on my altar.

They're all very like sunshine and masculine and powerful.

It's a really great time to add gold and orange and yellow to your altar.

And it's a really good time to really start to take place in gratitude for the abundance around you.

Summer is when the farmer's markets start for most people.

We start to see fresh fruit and fresh produce and if you're growing a garden,

You might actually start to be able to take some things from the garden and eat them.

We want to give gratitude for the abundance that's all around us.

For me,

Summer solstice is really the key information,

The key words for me are fun.

They are being in our power,

Balanced power,

And allowing ourselves to have that inner child come out and play.

Allowing the kid on summer holiday to come out and make some decisions for you.

Maybe that kid wants to take you to the beach or take you to the park or have you roll down the hill in the grass.

Let that happen.

Let yourself play and above all,

Please have fun.

Blessed Be.
