Today's meditation is about self-doubt.
This is that sneaky little voice in the background that wonders,
Am I good enough?
Do I know what I'm talking about?
Am I meant to be here?
Am I good enough or do I just think I am?
Do I know what I'm doing or do I just think I do?
Does someone else see me more clearly than I see myself?
Am I worthy of respect?
Am I intelligent?
Am I likeable?
Am I lovable?
Do other people want me around?
Self-doubt is something that every single human being can relate to and it has everything to do with how we see ourselves.
But self-doubt can cause us to miss out on opportunities,
The ones that are seized by those who are more confident and secure in their value and their knowledge.
When we can release self-doubt and step into the knowing of who we really are deep down,
That is when we can finally become who we've always wanted to be.
It's easy to rely on the opinion of others to form our image of ourselves.
But how you view yourself has nothing to do with what other people see or don't see.
How you view yourself comes from inside and what other people see will match what you see.
When we're always looking for other people to tell us who we are and whether or not we're good enough,
We'll always find people who repeat back to us the fears that live in our own minds.
Because how others see us ultimately is simply a reflection of what we see in ourselves.
If you feel like you're not respected by others,
It's likely that you're not respecting yourself.
And I know this message may not be one that we enjoy hearing,
But it is a very important message to receive.
Today I like to transform the way that you think about you.
Because I know that when you are believing and trusting in you,
Not only will the opinion of others change about you,
It also won't matter.
What anyone else thinks or says or does will no longer affect what you know to be true about you.
So when you're ready,
Go ahead and find yourself a comfortable position,
Either sitting up or lying down.
Allow your eyes to gently drift closed.
And begin with a few deep breaths.
Letting the air drift into your lungs and letting any worry flow out.
Starting to settle in now,
Even more comfortable.
And you can simply allow any worries,
Any thoughts of the day,
To drift away.
And this drifting motion continues as you find yourself now suspended on a cloud.
Even that fluffy white cloud seems to rock gently from side to side.
Carrying you,
Holding you.
You can melt down into this cloud,
Just letting it take you wherever you'd most like to go.
Maybe it's Paris or the Bahamas.
Maybe it's home to your bed.
Where would you most like to go?
Where would you most like to find yourself?
And you can be there right now,
Enjoying the sounds,
The smells,
The feeling of the air,
The lights,
The colors.
This is your time to be wherever and whomever you'd like to be.
And I want you to imagine the person that you would really,
Really love to be.
What are they like?
Are they funny,
Smart,
Beautiful,
Confident?
And I know that some days it feels like you may be far,
Far away from this person you'd really love to be.
And I want you to think about the quality that you most desire to possess.
Maybe it's charisma,
Maybe it's courage.
And no matter how far away you might think you are from who you'd really like to be,
I want you to bring up a time in your life when you really did show what you know deep down has always been inside you.
What was a moment you were courageous?
Think of a time that you were charismatic.
Bring to mind an experience of that quality no matter how small.
I know and you know it's there.
Somewhere inside of you,
Waiting to come out.
If you could just tap in now and begin to see it for yourself.
I know that you'd realize it's been there all along.
I'd like you to imagine yourself stepping into this new version of you.
Letting anything and everything from the past fall away as you begin to trust and know that this is you.
And anything that doesn't allow that just falls away.
And it doesn't matter if anyone else can see it yet.
As long as you never give up on you.
I want you to imagine you can wrap your arms around yourself now and remember that you can never leave you.
You'll always be there for you.
And now you can finally acknowledge what's always lived inside of you.
Then when you're ready you can come back to the room and open your eyes.
But before you get back to your day,
I invite you to take a few moments to appreciate you for taking this time to tune in to you.
