I wanted to create this short guided meditation to assist you in gently drifting off to sleep.
Just listening to the sound of my voice and allowing yourself to be carried off into rest and relaxation.
I'd like you to start in a comfortable position,
Lying down,
Ready to sleep with your head on the pillow and your eyes closed.
You can begin with a few deep breaths,
Feeling the air moving in and out with each deep breath.
Then I'd like you to begin to feel your body lying on the cushion,
Noticing the feeling of your arms and legs,
Noticing your hands and feet,
And feeling down into your feet.
I want you to start by imagining a very comfortable,
Relaxing feeling there,
Like stepping into a warm bath or a cozy blanket,
And imagine that comfort,
That relaxation,
Drifts up through your ankles and calves,
Through your knees and thighs,
All the way up through your hips,
Into your belly,
This comfort and relaxation.
Drifting up your spine in lazy little S-curves,
All the way up into your chest and across your shoulders,
Down the arms,
To the hands and fingers,
And up the back of your neck,
Into your head,
Over your scalp,
Down over your face,
Relaxing your eyes,
Nose,
Mouth,
And jaw,
Feeling very relaxed,
Even more comfortable.
Then I want you to bring your attention to your eyes,
Feeling all the little muscles around your eyes,
Around your eyeballs and your eyelashes and your eyelids,
And as you bring your attention to your eyes,
You notice your eyes growing very heavy and very relaxed,
So so relaxed,
They just feel so heavy,
So very heavy and relaxed,
In fact,
That you could try to open them,
But you find you just can't.
In fact,
The harder you try to open them,
The more relaxed and heavy they become,
And it's just so much more comfortable to let them rest,
As you drift deeper down into this space of comfort and relaxation,
Remembering the most comfortable experiences of your life,
Some moments where you felt so comfortable that nothing else mattered except that comfort,
Then you might think of them now,
Or allow your subconscious to present to you,
One such situation where you really experienced a sense of physical and mental comfort,
Your whole body lying flat and limp,
Like a limp rubber band,
Very deeply relaxed,
As you drift into an imagination of a beautiful garden with lots of vibrant colors,
Flowers of orange and yellow,
Red,
Purple and blue,
And you can almost smell the scents of the flowers,
As you walk through this beautiful garden,
Feeling a warm,
Gentle breeze,
Hearing the birds and the trees,
And the texture of the grass beneath your feet,
And that familiar,
Comforting scent in the air.
And there's a familiar feeling here,
Almost as if you've been here a thousand times,
And as you look up into the sky,
The sky transforms into a blanket of stars,
So many stars,
There's barely any sky between them,
Some are bright,
Pulsing with life,
While others are so far away,
You can barely tell they're there,
And I want you to notice the different patterns of the stars,
And I want you to notice the different patterns of the stars,
Following them around the sky,
Making pictures and shapes that remind you of one of your favorite things to think about,
Something you've always wanted,
Something that makes you happy to imagine,
It could be as simple as a memory of playing outside,
Or as extravagant as that trip around the world you've always wanted,
But whatever it is,
You can allow your subconscious mind to decide for you what pleasant images or thoughts come drifting into your mind,
See them mapped out in the stars,
And it's almost like you can drift up into that starry sky,
And float into your favorite fantasy,
Feeling the happiness,
The joy,
The love,
The pleasure,
The excitement.
The calm,
The peace,
The serenity,
The peace,
The serenity,
The serenity,
The serenity,
As this pleasant experience carries you away,
And it's so real to you now.
You can really feel it happening,
The happiness seems to sink deep into every fiber of your being,
And your mind is flooded with images of all the wonderful things this life has to offer,
Even the taste and the smell become real to you now,
As you drift into this pleasant sensation,
And let it take you over and over again.
Around my life.
